Re: Plans can change quickly
Lanny, as I related on the phone Sat. Ruth and I will certainly keep Sharon and you in our prayers. I hope Sharon makes a very speedy recovery and you are able to make Oshkosh. I know what an Oshkosh enthusiast you are having attended every year since 1983, or is it 87? Dave B

Re: Scott 3200 Tailwheel source
Thanks to all for the imput. George, today I had a conversation with"Steve" the IA tailwheel guy at AK Bushwheels. I found him to be knowledgeable and helpful. I ordered the ABI 3200 Tailwheel Ass. complete. Evidently Scott was sold to an outfit called Avox which really didn't want the tai...

Scott 3200 Tailwheel source
disassembled the tailwheel ass and found the fork casting with an internal piece broken across and above the hole that holds the little pin, part no. 3257. At minimum I need a new or servicable Fork Assembly. Also there is some wear on the Bracket Assembly spindle bolt and Arm Assembly spring holes ...

Re: Snapping sound from tail cone assembly
Thanks for the imput. Regretably I don't have an oppurtunity to quickly check further. We are leaving for a week in Ohio tomorrow. Had looked forward to flying the plane. Changed oil, filter, and decided to have my IA take a look. Oh well!! Bruce, everything you can lay your hands on or see is tight...

Snapping sound from tail cone assembly
Recently when the fuselage is pushed or rocked sided ways from just forward of horizontal stab., with the tail wheel centered, the stresses cause a snapping sound from inside the tail cone assembly. My IA and I have checked everything we can see, including crawling inside to rear bulkhead station 20...

Re: Petit Jean 2008 April 25 & 26
Dave, Traci, and Petit Jean Folks, hate to send this msg. I'm under wx with allergy, head and chest cold. Not only don't feel good, but functioning about 60%, just won't hack it flying the airplane. Wish I could UPS all the cherry cobbler and cookies Ruth was bringing. We will miss seeing everyone. ...

Re: Petit Jean 2008 April 25 & 26
Dave, thanks for the Email heads up on Petit Jean dates. We have been envolved with family medical issues and completely slipped our minds. Got right on the phone and by some miracle found a returned room at the lodge so Ruth & I will be there if Wx is flyable. Looking forward to seeing everyone...

what a neat story
George, what a neat story! Reminded me of my airline years, I flew with many Ron's and Jay's. No need to tell which one made the trips pleasant. Attitude counts for everything. Thanks for the story. Dave Bengtson

0-300B Eng in 170
Bruce, re approval for mounting the 0-300B engine in the C170. I have seen other questions concerning this on the web site. I can only say that the logs for my plane, a 1956 B model, N3496D, Ser #27039 indicate it was delivered from the factory with the 0-300B engine installed. I can only surmise th...

Starter Cable For Cessna 170B
Hello Doug, Thanks for the info on the starter cable. Don't know if your part nos. will work. My airplane serial no. is 27039 and your last number series went to 26995. My mechanic and none of his contacts seem to have a parts catalog for this airplane. I am going to take your advice and get a copy....

Inadvertant starter engagement
I am a new owner of a 1956 Cessna 170B, also new member of The Association. While practicing take offs and landings yesterday I did something stupid!! I pulled the starter engage knob instead of carburetor heat. The starter was engaged for a few seconds before I realized what I had done. After landi...
