Re: New 170B owner

Hey does anyone here know if the L19 aluminum wing tips will fit the 170B. I believe the outer wing panels are the same, but the part numbers are different for the tips. We have one fairly mangled original tip and I would like to replace it. Some shops actuall list the part as fitting 170/L19. Part ...

Re: New 170B owner

Well I finally got the prop thing all ironed out. I checked the ADs on this prop and there are three. One was N/A due to not in the serial range listed, and the other two cover different part #s. I simply started a record of this prop in the current airframe log. It turns out to be right at 76"...

Re: Metal flakes in the C-145

Did your screen have a fitting in the rear of it that the temp sensor screwed into? Mine did, and I just swapped it over to the filter adaptor. If yours is a different thread you may need to purchase an adaptor. Normally the probes do not screw directly into the screen housing as they "seat&quo...

Re: New 170B owner

No, I have not checked the tach yet and I really need to do that. Keep forgetting my checker when I fly. It is reading 2200 static. I will see if I can check it in the next few days. Why is my 76" prop, 76.5 inches long? I was thinking of the McCauley factory for the call to check the serial nu...

Re: New 170B owner

Well after further invenstigation, I have found out that our prop is actually a MCcauley DES 1A170 DM 7651. So, a 51 pitch 76" . I put a tape measure on it and it comes in at 76...and change, but we will round down beacuase the type cert says max dia is 76". Not sure why this thing is a li...

Re: New 170B owner

Well....we may have some issues here. The prop is clearly a Mccauley, but the logbook for the aircraft says Sensenich. When I get home I am pulling the spinner to get the numbers off the prop because I dont trust any of it. A little cleanup of the books are in order as there are a few mistakes here ...

Re: New 170B owner

It's a 74 -56! No wonder is so anemic. Now, do we want a 53 or 51... decisions. Also could really use some help. We are having feed problems in the tanks. Last long leg of the flight from MA to TX was 3 hrs. Took off on both, flew 45 minutes on the left tank and then switched back to both. After lan...

Re: New 170B owner

Thanks to all who have contributed to our newbie 170 education. We are just loving the plane. With about 20 hours on it already we are learning what we like and noticing some others. One thing that has become evident is that the plane seems to have a cruise prop on it. I need to dig up the numbers f...

Re: New 170B owner

Wow, didn't know that. So it is then prohibited to install 6 ply? That is good to know. They are cheaper anyway:) Web fly mostly on grass and non pavement so even the chep tires seem to last long enough.

Re: New 170B owner

Thank you Bruce: I just purchased the spring kit pictured. It is a Scott part and still has the mounting instructions for the 170 inside. I found it at a local aircraft surplus store at 35$. I would have bought more if he had them. It will be interesting to see what the new tailwheel and springs do ...

Re: New 170B owner

HELP! Hey I found an Alaskan bushwheel tailwheel used and just had to get it. It is model ABI 3224. I need to know if I need a spacer for the leaf spring and if so, what size. The airplane is still out east and I think I want to bring this tailwheel with me and swap it out for our trip west. Any inf...

Re: New 170B owner

Thanks again guys. Already got a good start on spending $$:) I just ordered 0510171-1, which is the ratchet for the 10 degree flap position. The supply houses want over 600$ for this part these days from Cessna. OUch. I found one at aTexas salvage yard for 120. Not too bad and easy to install. I kno...
