Anyone know the difference between the Donaldson and the Tempest? Is the tempest just a Donaldson clone? Recommend one or the other?
My K&N might not be up to snuff since I'm seeing low level silicon levels in the oil changes nearest to some desert camping trips.

Re: Blank instrument panel (drawings/measurements)
Hi all, I'm thinking about doing some extensive panel work, but before doing any work I'd like to draw out the panel on AutoCAD or illustrator. Are there any members here that would happen to have a blank instrument in either of those programs I could use? If not, maybe there are members here that ...

Re: Stall warning switch vane
Mine has a slotted mounting plate to adjust the angle of incidence, which I assume would also change the actuation timing. If only my stall horn had a volume control...It's an antique looking thing with a lighted glass ball in the center and an earsplitting tone.

Re: Alternator Upgrade
I have personal experience installing a couple different alternator upgrades in a couple different 170's. Best two options I'm aware of for easy modern conversions: 1. Plane Power (Hartzell) ER14-50 . The kit from aircraft Spruce come with wire harness, gaskets, placard, regulator and panel warning ...

Airbox repairs-What alloy?
Anyone know what the 170b airbox is made from? 4130? Mild steel? Galvanized? Mix dependent on component?
Appreciate it if someone has experience on this. Need to do a small weld repair.
Thanks!

Re: Upholstery Diet?
These guys seem to do a nice thing. https://aircraftseatframes.com/products/square-back-cessna-seat-overhaul I'll bet you could do something similar with a couple cushioned adel clamps to hold a slotted sheet metal plate to restrict travel. I think it might have to come off the horizontal bar, but I...

Re: Source for LH blast tube
The other option is to just block it off..It used to be SCAT to the alternator (recently replaced with one that doesn't need it). The oil screen/sensor area still has the RH tube, although I'm sure it would't hurt anything to have another.

Re: Solder for copper primer lines
Ordered some Harris Stay-Silv 45 and matching flux. Watched a few youtube videos. Doesn’t look any different than soldering plumbing fittings.-Just higher heat.

Re: Solder for copper primer lines
Hmm. That's quite a variety of suggestions. I've never silver brazed before, but I'll do some research. Thinking out loud...I suppose the absolute worst case scenario would be priming a hot engine and having a failed joint spray fuel on the exhaust.. There’s no need to prime a hot engine. Uh oh..I ...
