Gahorn...just wanted to let you know how it turned out. Today was the first time I've had to go out to the plane to trouble shoot it. I had received the Electrical System Manual from Velvet and read over it...very good job to whoever put this together...the first step after checking all the connecti...

I think I am coming in a little too fast. I fly final at 80mph with 20degrees of flaps, then leave in a tad of pwer and try to fly her on the rwy. I think next time i'll try 30 degrees of flaps, maybe around 70mph, with slightly fwd trim. It's fun to experiment! :D

I've only got about 40hrs on my 'new' plane, so am still in the learning phase...mine is a 170A with the 'soft' gear. I find it almost impossible to make a good wheel landing in anything other than light/calm winds. Also during mid-day heat with the thermal bumps...impossible. If I drop it in from o...

Generator

During my flight this evening, my generator light came on. Sure enough, the gauge showed zero. This was the second leg of a short hop...no problems on first leg. Is there anything I can trouble shoot that could be the problem besides generator?...maybe voltage regulator? :?

Thanks guys...I'm not so red faced anymore. I'll try taking the carb filter off and see how that works.

Thanks again! :D

Cowling Removal

Ok...I'm going out on a limb here and embarrassing myself. The other day, I was going to remove my cowling for some house cleaning, but couldn't get the bottom cowling off. The top was no problem, but the bottom cowl seems to be catching on the air filter box. I couldn't move it forward because of t...

Gascolator Drain

I apologize for asking guys, but I did a search and couldn't find the answer...also not in parts catalog...what size is gascolator drain valve. I think mine is 3/8" NPT...it is the glass bowl type. Mine leaks a little...just enough to be irritating. Want to replace it, or the o-ring, whichever ...

Copper Crushwasher

Just changed oil for first time on my plane. Did a search here and got good info, and things went smoothly. Question though, I noticed that I have a 1" nut in front of the big square nut which holds oil screen with the AN900-28 copper crush washer. The 1" nut also had a copper crushwasher ...

Dave- My recently purchased C170A has a new Skytec starter, and I am quite pleased with it. It seems to start quicker...1 to 2 blades...hot or cold. It also has Slick mags.

Yeah, it makes a big difference. These fractional companies are competing with airlines, which is fine, as long as they don't get a free ride on paying all the taxes that the airlines have to. By not paying these fees, it forces the airlines to pay more, and they are forced to pass along the costs t...

Guys, the way I took Anderson's statements were that he wasn't against the Cessna's and Piper's, but against the Lears and GIV's flown by fractional companys like Flexjet, NetJet, etc. They basically run an on-demand charter, except you own part of the aircraft. The company gets away from paying lan...
