Hi-
Thanks for your advice on the wings. I'll drop the thoughts of swapping out wings-way too much hassle.
Cheers,
Cam

170B wings for a Cessna 170A
Hi-
Does anyone know if you can transfer wings from a Cessna 170B w/slotted flaps onto a 1951 Cessna 170A? I'd like to upgrade to wings with the B flaps.
Thanks, Cam

Re: VIDEO: C170A flies into Mile Hi, Vines, Cabin Creek-Idaho
Hi Cory-
I took out all seats (passenger and back seat) and mounted a Gitzo tripod with ball head. I use a Sony DCR-HC1000 with wide angle Carl Zeiss lens. With a remote wire I can turn recording on and off.
Hope that helps.

Re: VIDEO: C170A flies into Mile Hi, Vines, Cabin Creek-Idaho
Hi Mick- Glad you like the video! The Idaho backcountry is a fun place to fly. The strips are surprisingly smooth...although the video doesn't reflect that. Once you feel comfortable at slow flight and flying in that kind of terrain, the strips become very reasonable. Idaho offers great strips both ...

blueprint-engine installation-Lycoming O-360 for C170A
Hi- I just acquired the blueprints for my Cessna 170a(Lycoming O-360-A1A)...i got them from Bob Williams at Avcon, Udall, Kansas. I would keep trying him. He was friendly on the phone, and (although it took several attempts of calling him-he's not super good about returning calls)....he did send out...

C170A w/Lycoming 180HP: LOOKING FOR Operating Limitations
Looking for Operating Limitations Sheet for a Cessna 170A(that has a Lycoming O-360) modification. I have the Operating Limitations for the 170A.....but not since the modification was done. Does anyone have a copy? Does such a thing exist? Would like to work out performance info for my bird. thanks,...

blueprint-engine installation-Lycoming O-360 for C170A
looking for a blueprint of engine installation for lycoming O-360 on a Cessna 170A. I have an STC for the engine, but no other paperwork. Mechanic needs blueprint to verify the engine was installed on plane correctly before 337 is issued. plane has been in annual for over 2 months, because of the pa...

whelen comet flash replacement for grimes
it's gotten cold in montana. i drove to the hangar only to find ol' munks frozen like a popsicle. a half eaten banana in one hand....a blinking flashlight in the other. i moved on, and decided to get a 'real' strobe system. thanks george for the advice. i went with the whelen comet flash HR-CFA R/W(...

GRIMES POWER SUPPLY PACK-STROBE REPLACEMENT
hi george- the grimes power supply pack had a burned out pc board and other issues. i called honeywell(parent co. of grimes) and(again) got the same high-dollar quote for replacement and purchasing new. it's a strobe system...and not a flashing beacon. thanks for the info on the 'rotating beacon'. m...

GRIMES POWER SUPPLY PACK-STROBE REPLACEMENT
I ended up buying a small monkey and 2 blinking flashlights at the hardware store. i just put ' munks' in the fuselage, told him what to do....and he figured out the routine in short order. total cost 37.50. way cheaper than buying a new grimes power supply pack.

yes, you heard correct. i called honeywell(which now owns grimes). I sent in the power supply pack. i was shocked at the high price tag of fixing the unit(4,200.-). honestly, i'm not sure how it could be so expensive to fix. i'm certainly not going to go the route of fixing the strobe, and now looki...

GRIMES POWER SUPPLY PACK-STROBE REPLACEMENT
I own a 51' Cessna 170a. The strobe system was a Grimes. The power supply pack became inoperative. My jaw dropped when I heard the replacement value($6,300.- for new or $4,200.- to fix). I'm looking for a new replacement system. Can anyone recommend some (much) cheaper options. Currently I have a be...

8.50 x 6's field approval
Thank you everyone for your input on getting the 8.50's x 6's approved. For anyone that's interested, this is what I found out. Getting a field approval(more common in AK) is possible, and depends on who you talk to. The local FSDO wouldn't do it, but the ANCH and BOI FSDO will. I was told it's a si...
