Jury Strut Chaffing Prevention
Working on some odds and ends on my ‘48 and was wondering what is recommended to put in between the jury strut clamps and main lift struts to prevent chaffing? It almost appears like electrical tape was used on mine before it slowly worked its way out over time and needs replacing, I’ve seen one pos...

Re: What did you buy for your 170 today?
It's been a few months, but I recently installed an uAvionix AV-30C in my '48. I really like it so far! I also have some new 800X6 tires on the way.

Re: '48 Fuel Cap Overflowing/Uneven Fuel Burn
Rereading my post I should say that I did not install an o-ring on the underside of the cap. Everything is installed as per original design (see attached image); with new gaskets and a fresh o-ring with some fuel lube. My best guess is that the cause was due to the o-rings deteriorating and that the...

Re: '48 Fuel Cap Overflowing/Uneven Fuel Burn
Finally got it! Turns out the new gaskets were too thin and were not making a good seal. After getting some gaskets made that were the correct thickness and installing the o-rings as stated in my previous post, it appears the leaks have been stopped. No more blue on the top of my wing and both fuel ...

Re: '48 Fuel Cap Overflowing/Uneven Fuel Burn
Fuel Cap 2.jpg here we go, I installed an oring between the lower cap surface and washer. fuel lube helps as well. Thanks, Poncho. We installed new gaskets and replaced the O-rings on the top side of the caps. The O-ring on the right cap was almost gone and my left cap didn’t even have an O-ring in...

'48 Fuel Cap Overflowing/Uneven Fuel Burn
All, Lately I have noticed fuel stains on the right wing and fuel puddling in the top of the right wing fuel cap. Especially when the tanks are full. I was flying with a buddy the other day and as I entered a turn below him, he told me he noticed fuel spraying off my right wing while in the turn. To...

Re: Rough Mag Drop (Bendix SF6LN-12)
Just so I’m not leaving anyone hanging, I figured I’d give everyone what I hope to be the last update on this issue for a long time! I received my new wiring harnesses, got them installed, yet still had a bad mag drop. We called the guys at Fresno Air Parts and decided to send the mag back for re-in...

Re: Rough Mag Drop (Bendix SF6LN-12)
Just an update here. Went ahead and got my mags overhauled. Took a while to find someone to work on these mags but finally got in touch with the guys at Fresno Air Parts. Took a while to get them back but man did they look good! Got the mags reinstalled and everything ran great for about 15 hours an...

Rough Mag Drop (Bendix SF6LN-12)
Hello all, New '48 owner here! Recently purchased my first certified bird 4179K. have really enjoyed flying the 170, but started noticing some issues on the last few flights with the ignition system. Now, I am fairly green to the mechanic side of things so you will have to forgive me if something do...
