That's an interesting little turn of events given the fact that the minutes from last year's Board of Director's Meeting (in the 4Q 2002 170 News) lists the subject as being dropped. No explanation, just dropped. I, for one, would love for the Association to produce a calendar and will definitely le...

In the MX Library there is a thread entitled: "Form 337's and STC copies Available from TIC170A Hqtr's." Have a look at this. There is a listing for "EXHAUST PIPE EXTENSIONS (170A-B)", but it doesn't say if it's an STC or 337. Contact Velvet at HQ (you ARE a TIC170A member, right...

Regarding the A vs. B speed: one thing I think may have been lost in the shuffle here is that the "B" has an additional twist in the wing (3deg. I think, but not sure). I'm no aeronautical engineer, but it seems to me that the twist would put more surface area into the wind and slow it dow...

Wow! It's amazing what they'll charge for an original part. The tailspring sold by Univair and A/C Spruce (Univair part) is FAA-PMA'd and is a common replacement for the tailspring. Save yourself the $1890-odd and by the Univair part. Mine's been fine since I replaced it.

I'm still having that problem too... I just try to wade through the posts anyway. It's awfully frustrating, though......

Well I'm glad SOMEBODY has been out flyin'. It's been cold and windy for weeks and snowing few times as well. Too dang cold to go shovel myself out.

I would think that "in the panel" would lead to swing problems. My '52 has it mounted on top of the panel - is that an option? I wonder if there's any way to attach it to a bracket that attaches to the piece overhead where the top of the windshield meets the fuselage... kind of like some o...

All that fuse talk got me thinking about my parts pile in the basement. I took a look and found a few fuses that appear to be in good condition: AGS20 - 2 ea AGS25 - 2 ea AGS40 - 1 ea AGC20 - 1 ea My '52 was converted to CBs before I bought it so I have no use for the fuses. No guarantees, but if so...

The scoop was added for avionics cooling. I don't believe a scoop was ever a factory option or provision. I think the KLN-88 can be cooled either by an air scoop or a cooling fan, but take this with a grain of salt as I'm definitely NOT an avionics guy.

I think the default time stamps are UTC. Once you log in (twice) your time zone from your profile takes over and displays them correctly.

Aha! Found it! But it wasn't on this site, it was on George's "other" site. Yes, folks, for those of you who may not be aware, we are not the sole recipients of our beloved moderator's wisdom. Alas, he has "another life" 8O , but I like to think that we hold a special place in hi...

I could have sworn that George had posted something in the past about cooling a KLN-88, but danged if I can find it. If I remember right, he installed a small air scoop of sorts to provide ram air cooling for the unit. At least, I *think* I'm remembering this right...... Have a go a the search utili...
