Re: Generator Field Wire Size

well that is good so far. Have you duplicated the problem on the ground previously by keying the mike or does it only happen in flight?

Re: Generator Field Wire Size

The shielded field wire should help but the coax shielding issue should be addressed also. What type of connectors does your coax have? solder or crimp on type? Since the antenna end doesn't seem to be grounded and the radio rack seems to have a questionable ground I would temporarily connect a jump...

Re: Generator Field Wire Size

Have you checked the shielding of the coax from end to end including all connections? The antenna is a common point of failure due to moisture on the exterior of the aircraft. I would suggest removing the antenna, carefully checking the mounting screws, gasket and surface of the fuselage and even nu...

Re: Control Sticks in a 170

Probably cheaper to buy an L-19 than convert a 170

Re: Control Sticks in a 170

They do have a conversion for the swift to install a stick, it does have gear mounted in the wing though instead of the fuselage. That might make a difference.

Re: Wire to battery?

Based on the schematic George supplied, I don't disagree. If it were me, I would stick with the wind up clock.

I appreciate the feedback from Miles and George but I don't believe we are on the same page, or should I say "diagram".

Re: Wire to battery?

You should have battery voltage to your master switch as well. It may less hassle to wire your clock from there but either would work, i guess.

Re: Electrical Discharge Problem

The fully charged battery cell voltage is 2.2v times 6 cells on your battery, that equals 13.2v fully charged with no load. The charging voltage needs to be above that. the 13.7v - 14.7v that dave's chart reflects is in line with That, The 14.25v value I gave is average temp value. Your battery is a...

Re: Electrical Discharge Problem

12.8v is definitely low for your charging voltage. double check that at the battery to make sure you don't have a problem between the battery and circuit breaker as well. your charging votage should be close to 14.25v. If it is only 12.8v at the battery it will never get a full charge and possibly c...

That reminds me of the commonly used term "idiot proof". I Always correct anyone using this term, saying there is no such thing. There is only idiot resistent, I have encountered many highly motivated idiots.
