CGR-30
Who's running the CGR-30P from Electronics International? I'm considering one and I'm curious how others have set it up, what primary/secondary functions have you selected? What's your thoughts so far? I'd like to get fuel flow and fuel totalizer functions, and also use it as a primary for required ...

Re: A new toy
George, Don’t transponders typically transmit a pressure altitude? I believe it’s corrected for non standard atmosphere on the ATC end on the ground. Regarding Oz Runways...first, I really enjoyed my Aussie experience two winters ago. Loved seeing our host country and the six weeks we spent flying f...

Re: Prop STCs
Thanks Jughead.
I was just wondering in case I found one on the used market somewhere. If I go ahead with the plan and order one, I don't see a reason to go with the 43. I certainly didn't buy a 170 to go fast.

Prop STCs
Investigating the 8042/3 propeller idea. Any feedback as to which STC may be preferred and why? I understand Kenmore has one and Wick Air has another. Airplane has the original C-145 engine. Also, seems like some folks end up with an 8042 and others with an 8043, is there really much noticeable diff...

Re: Finally...
Wow, beautiful! Where were all these nice airplanes back when I was shopping? Right? It's pretty crazy out there. I found this one in a comment thread on Facebook. It wasn't officially for sale, but I, along with 25 others, reached out to the commenter. I was the first to commit to buying it, pendi...

Finally...
After quite some time looking, and about a month since actually purchasing one, I've finally got an airplane of my own at home. I flew out to GRR 10 days ago, spent some time visiting friends and becoming proficient with Mark from Arise Aviation. After finishing my insurance check out, spent some ti...

Re: ADC Oil Screen
Thank you! It definitely seems difficult to come across any technical docs for the version I have. I did notice the rebate offer a while back and it made me think that even they didn't think this system was the best idea. At the moment, I'm just trying to make sure I get an understanding of the mod ...

ADC Oil Screen
All, I'm trying to do some research in preparation for the first oil change for me. The airplane has an ADC Oil Filter installed per STC SA4172NM. Disclaimer, the airplane and the books are 1800 miles away from me at the moment. I've been googling around and trying to see what I can find as far as d...

Re: N7A - Change of Guard
We ran straight west to just south of Chicago. We then flew 290 mad Eric heading all the way to Billings, MT. We will then follow I-90 through Mullan Pass in Mt. From Spokane we will proceed mostly direct to Portland area. Assuming the weather will be good in a few days. Thanks! I’ll probably do so...

Re: N7A - Change of Guard
Curious which routing you guys took. I’ll be doing West Michigan to Spokane in a few weeks. I’ll visit some friends south of Chicago, and might drop by the Twin Cities to see some folks.

Re: New to me 170B
There are rumors of trade-in or upgrade programs from the tailBeacon to the tailBeaconX, so that’s always a possibility down the road.

Re: New to me 170B
$3000 for the X, $2000 for the AV-30, and undoubtedly more labor for install vs $2000 for the straight tailBeacon and an airplane that will still likely be flyable in most parts of Canada. Also, the tailBeaconX isn’t even available for certified aircraft yet. I don’t even think Canada’s plan is fina...

Re: New to me 170B
Very Pretty! Congratulations! Any ADS-B equipment on board? Not yet. Looking at ordering the UAvionix Tail Beacon. Likely an excellent choice. It is written up about in this month’s Aviation Consumer. Contains it’s own txdr and is intended to meet expected Canadian ADS-B requirements. (Also, the wi...

Engine Monitor
All, Who's running an engine monitor? Being a new owner, I'm looking for inputs. Not necessary? Nice to have? Must have? I'm interested in the idea of a fuel flow/totalizer, along with EGT/CHT indications, and perhaps replacing the existing tach, oil temp, oil press. Really, just looking to see what...
