Re: Survival hand gun or rifle Question
Just out of curiosity does anybody here have recent experience with flying over the border to the north, and survival guns? I understand at least in the past you were actually required to have a 12ga. onboard for survival in Canada and I haven't kept up with any regs for that. Is it still the case t...

Re: Survival hand gun or rifle Question
Why the VOR check? Is that assuming you have an IFR certified plane?

Re: Whelen Rotating Beacon
I couldn't find anything on Grimes, I assumed they were out of business. I'll look into the distributor cap idea.

Re: Whelen Rotating Beacon
I have a Grimes rotating beacon I'm presently going through, and it looks like other than cleaning and lubrication the only thing I need is a new contact for the arm which provides the power for the lamps. I'll try to post a picture of it later but the arm is basically a spring with what looks like ...

Re: Hurry and get yours....
I will be approaching the board to suggest that we offer our own logbook, covered in hogs-hair and with an inside-pocket for condoms, chocolate bars, and P-3 can-opener. The binding/spine of the logbook will contain 6-loops for pistol cartridges. Hey I could go for one of those, I've almost filled ...

It's not a split switch. It's a single toggle.

Re: Power without the master on?
Try shutting OFF the Master and leavng the engine running above 1200 RPM ....and let us know what happens. (Question: Does the electrical system remain engergized?) Yep that's exactly what happens. I may have to take a day off work so I can spend some quality time rooting around in the wiring. Than...

Power without the master on?
So this is one of those deals where I'm sure this isn't right, but there's just a grain of doubt in my mind. The other day I shut off the radio while the motor was running, and for some reason pulled my headset off one ear. I've had this habit of switching off the master right after pulling the mixt...

Re: 76" prop on a 180HP
What about using the MT prop? Isn't that a blanket STC for the 170s and 172s with 180hp O360 Lycs?

Re: tail pull handles
Sheesh. If only there was a discount on the inertia reel harnesses :( I put those in my plane a couple years ago and they were a lot of money, but for what it's worth I've been very happy with them. Also if you start really looking hard at the stock attach points for shoulder harness installations ...

Re: tail pull handles
The tail pull handles have been the best bang for the buck I've gotten out of any improvement or repair to the plane. The tail pull handles are worth every penny in my opinion. They get used every time I fly, and some times when I don't fly.

Re: Brake master rebuild
Thanks for the link mod. Hmmm, George you've given me more to think about. I have Cleveland wheels and brakes but I don't know if the masters were changed or not, I'll have to do more research this weekend.

Brake master rebuild
Is there such a thing as a master cylinder rebuild kit for our brakes, if so can anyone tell me where to get one? My brakes are fine now, but I'd like to go through the masters and see how they look. It would be nice to already have the seals on hand if they don't cost to much.
