Hi guys,
I’ve found a set of gear legs for my 170. I’d like to get them inspected before installing them. Has anyone had any recent experience with this?
Thank you!
Pat

Re: Tailwheel troubles
I'm looking at the access hole, I hope it doesn't cause you problems in the future. The access cover was on it when I bought it. It has a really nice doubler behind it that wasn’t installed in the picture. I actually thought it was factory until I started looking at other 170s. Didn’t think about g...

Re: Tailwheel troubles
She’s done minus paint. Took her up for a test flight and it did great! No shimmy what so ever. Thanks for all the good advice everyone.

Re: Tailwheel troubles
Getting her put back together finally. Caster angle looks much better with this setup. Going to take her out and see how she tracks in the morning. Wish my luck!

Re: Tailwheel troubles
I spoke with Pete at Air Repair and he got me all set up with the required parts and gave me a significant 170 Association discount. After speaking with Ron, who had very similar damage, I’m really hoping I don’t get her opened up and find a whole new can of worms. I debated trying to have it welded...

Re: Tailwheel troubles
Sorry about the pictures. I can’t figure out how to flip them around. Makes me feel old when technology gets the best of me. I searched using the term Fishmouth and found a ton of info. Thanks for the lead on that one. I’m still a little confused about which part numbers I should be looking for. Am ...

Tailwheel troubles
Good morning, I’ve owned this 170A for a few months now and I’m trying to get all of the kinks worked out. Currently I’m focused on the tailwheel. I have a few concerns with it: 1. It appears to have small cracks on both sides at the radius where the tailwheel mounts to the airframe. 2. It has signi...

Cessna 170A Prebuy at KUVA in TX
Hey Guys! I'm back again. After about 3 weeks of work and a lot of research, my 170 deal near Nashville fell through. Good news is I've made an offer on another one west of San Antonio TX at Garner Field (KUVA) pending a prebuy. I'm hoping there's someone in this community that could point me in the...

Re: 170A with the Sportsman STOL Kit?
Thanks for all of the info guys! The seller is going to work on getting her approved before the sale. Will from Stene Aviation sent me the 54 page flight test from #146. He asked that I not post it online but said I could send it to people who are interested. My email is below and I’d be happy to fo...

Re: 170A with the Sportsman STOL Kit?
Look at the 337 and see if there is an FAA signature in Block 3. If there is, that is considered a Field Approval. If there is no signature in Block 3, that indicates it is only a Major Modification authorized by the referenced STC. But since the 170A is not on the AML, it is not a valid approval. ...
