Re: Taildragger Aviation still in business?
Hi Everyone, I wanted to provide a quick update. After unsuccessfully attempting to get a set of Dip Davis cowl latches, I tried submitting a request again last week to the website. Well this time it worked! I received a prompt response and within a few days received a set of latches. I don't know i...

Re: Taildragger Aviation still in business?
Thank you so much! I spoke with David. It appears he doesn't own the STC, its a Loraine Morris (spelling?). I'm trying to track her down. While https://taildraggeraviation.com has lots of STCs, it sounds like David owns the STCs for Cessna 150 conversions but not the cowl latches. I'll keep you all ...

Taildragger Aviation still in business?
Hi Everyone and Happy New Year! I'm interested in getting new cowl latches for my '52 170B. I've gone to https://taildraggeraviation.com to purchase a set. Over the course of several months I've filled out the contact form multiple times and have yet to hear back from anyone. I don't see any other m...

AeroLED SunSpot 36LX Landing Lights
Hi All, I managed to make it into Santa's nice list this year and received two AeroLED SunSpot 36LX series LEDs for my '52 model B. I've looked through the installation instructions and it seems pretty straightforward to install these. To me, installation is basically the same as replacing a burned ...

Re: C170B Brake Failure
Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Bruce, I was reading your comment and it sounded a little familiar. I was experiencing diminishing right brake performance until there was nothing left. Had fluid topped off (from bottom to avoid getting air in the lines). After topping brakes seemed to be back to n...

Re: Garmin vs. Dynon Skyview HDX
Yes, you're not the only one. My panel needs some work. I've got an INOP GPS, Nav radio, and attitude indicator and it is all quite old. So rather than invest money in old equipment I wanted to go with new and make the plane IFR capable. I'm leaning toward the GI275 as they will let the panel still ...

Garmin vs. Dynon Skyview HDX
Hi All, I'm contemplating an avionics upgrade in the near future for my 1952 170B. I was initially considering going the Garmin route with GNC355 GPS/COM, 2x GI275 (AI + HSI), and GTX 345 ADS-B transponder, and GMA 342 audio panel. However, it looks like the Dynon Skyview HDX system has an STC for C...

Re: New Member Introduction
Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm glad to be here.
Here are a couple of pics I took just before the flying it home. Unfortunately, my hangar is far from my home right now so I will have to take more next time I visit the plane.

Re: Exhaust Tailpipe Questions
Thank you all for the feedback. I really appreciate it. One follow up question I wasn't entirely clear on. Since I have the Hanlon & Wilson on a 1952 model, does that mean I have two right-side mufflers? So do I need to order two right-side tailpipes as well? Or is it ok to order one left and on...

Exhaust Tailpipe Questions
Hi Everyone, I'm a new owner with a 1952 Cessna 170B and I have a question regarding the exhaust tailpipes. From reading on the forum it seems my tailpipes are cut incorrectly (opening rearward rather than forward). In fact, on the right co-pilot side the edge of the tailpipe cut-off is just even wi...

Re: Denver area IA reccomendations
I just purchased a plane from the Denver area and used Rudy Metz (http://www.airannual.com/) for the pre-purchase inspection. He was very thorough and overall a great person to work with.

New Member Introduction
Hi Everyone, I'm a new member and new owner of my first Cessna 170. Last week I flew home N2446D from Larkspur, CO to its new home in Ohio. Its a 1952 Cessna 170B model. I've already found this community very helpful in learning about my new airplane. I'm sure I will have many questions regarding th...
