Re: headroom
Karl: Thanks for the kind words. I am not sure if we spoke at Oshkosh or not. If so, I probably don't recognize your sign on name. If not, I will be at Sun N Fun and OSH this year, so please stop by. Also my cell phone is listed below if I can help in any way. The 48 is faster but isn't as stable in...

Re: headroom
Karl: I am also vertically challenged (6'3+)and own a 48. When I installed my headliner (airtex), I actually sewed the fabric tubes closer to the headliner so I could get additional headroom. The headliner comes with fabric "tubes" where the hanger wires (bows) suspend the headliner. You m...

Re: rudder area
As for aesthetics, I think the 170's tail is far more attractive than the tail of the A and B, but I realize I'm the odd man out there. I couldn't agree more. Both of my 48's had the dorsal fin at one time or another. It was remove before I bought my first one and I am removing it from my project. ...

Re: AD's & SB's (Split from: Proposed Wing AD (NOT!)
Well, if an AD note came out which applied to certain baggage door-frames from certain Cessnas in a certain serial range due to improper alloys of aluminum....it would certainly go a long ways toward solving the mystery of whether or not my bag door installation had a problem, would it not? I am no...

Re: AD's & SB's (Split from: Proposed Wing AD (NOT!)
I see that, I just didn'tthink that there was enough demand that someone would go and pursue getting an STC. AS far as the tag history of the donor aircraft, the supplier where the door came from seems to do a good job of traceability. If someone was to buy a door from a supplier without this discip...

I would have thought you would need a field approval to put a 172 baggage door on a 170?

Kyle:
It was a misserable high 60's today south of Atlanta but will be low 30's tomorrow morning. I bet the Crown made the snow go away for a little while. I hope you and Becky are doing well. I have tried to make it to Petit Jean several times and something always happens. Maybe this year.

Re: New Sport Aviation Magazine?
I really enjoy EAA / Vintage and also enjoy Oshkosh every year. I am just excited to see the airplane in the videos and magazines. Maybe it will increase the value should I decide to sell it. That will be the only compensation that I will get for the pictures.

It looks it is from one of the photos at OSH last year of my 170. Good catch as I missed it. It was also in the video

Thanks, I am piling up the invoices from Spruce. Since I seem to do everything 3 times, I will probably have the cost of 3 airplanes when I am done.

Website www.fly170.com
I just launched a website fly170.com where I will be posting photos of my project 170 during the restoration. I am hoping this will make me document the restoration, keep me moving on it, and maybe keep others interested in restoring these great airplanes. If your interested, take a look. I do not c...
