The Cessna one runs $400. It's a spin on adapter for a champion oil filter.

I went to the website listed in GAHORN's post, but couldn't find any pricing / purchasing info. Anyone?

Oil Filter adapter

8O My A&P found a crack in my old CESSNA oil filter adapter. Does anyone recommend a different one? Or shall I just buy the same old replacement? :?:

I'll ask!

Hey, that's a good point too! We went flying yesterday, and he acknowledges the transient, so it's not just a figment of my imagination (you know, the autorough that happens the minute you are over terrain where there's no really suitable place to put her down in a pinch). So, we're into the trouble...

Plugs

I asked the A&P about that (plugs), and he said we replaced them not this year, but last. So only about 100 hours on the plugs. We're going flying tomorrow to see what he thinks too. 8O

Magnetos

I'm having a transient vibration in my engine. Some days it runs smooth as silk, other days I have this odd vibration that I can't seem to get rid of, no matter the mixture or rpm settings. My A&P tells me that it is almost certainly a mag or ignition harness problem. Any thoughts? Also, what ab...

1948 -- Fabric or Aluminum wings?

Hi,

I am approaching that point where I'll need to reskin my wings on my 1948 C-170. I have had one or two suggestions from folks about putting an aluminum skin on vs replacing the fabric. Any inputs from the field or thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Fuel Valve

Curt,

What fuel selector did you buy? My A&P was a little dubious about the weatherhead valve. In any event, my annual should be done tomorrow, and I'll let you know the result.

Scratching my head

Okay, so I found the fuel valves .. but I'm being a little stupid this late at night. Weatherhead fuel shut-off valve I see two models. 6749 and 6747. How can I tell what I need? My old valve, which I don't have with me at the moment, had left / right / both / off positions. I'm trying to decipher f...

Serial / Model

Okay!

Serial is 18244 and Model is 170 (as opposed to 170A or 170B!) -- but then I guess I don't have to explain that to you, unlike most people!!

I'm off to check the Spruce catalog. :D

Fuel Selector Valve

Hi all, Okay we're revisiting this topic. After multiple attempts to rebuild the old, oft rebuilt fuel selector valve, my A&P advises we deep six it. Now, I'm left trying to figure out what to put in to its place. Anyone have suggestions on a newer model that has either an stc or 337? "Hoog...

Ok!

Thanks for that explanation. I think we're going to redo all the pushrod tubes with REALGASKET and then see how many leaks we've killed. I'm certain the one leak from the front left will still be there though. I'm hoping you've given me the direction I needon this one.

Fuel Selector

Jon & Joe, thanks. Hopefully that'll fix the problem. The A & P thinks I may also have a cracked flange on the left fuel line going into the selector. Just speculation on possibilities at this point.

More to follow.

Still leaking

John Blocker, Well, having searched the belly, I can tell you for certain it is NOT a leak between the selector and gascolator. No blue stains there at all. I put 10 gallons in 2 days ago and I'm already seeing signs of fuel "disappearing". No blue stains on wing, or side of the airc...

Good inputs. I'm off to the hangar. We'll let you know what we find!

Fuel Selector

Okay, here's the real scoop. I was flying the other day, parked the airplane, and came back after a week. (I was on an airline trip). Upon return, I found the left wing completely empty, my hangar floor blue, and at least 10 gallons of 100LL gone. (no this wasn't theft). The A&P came over to the...
