Unless they are broke a thin smear of fuel lube should stop the leak. Your a & p probably has a old can sitting around.

Been mentioned before I think. But along the rule out the simple first. Take the cowling off at night, (does get dark down there doesn't it this time of year) and look for spark leaks from any of the plug wires or anywhere else. Don't forget the prop.

As a caution, I talked to a fellow the other day who has a cabin out away from the crowd. He flew his C-185 out there for a few days R & R, noticed he had a bad fuel leak the next morning, ground wet with fuel, hot sunny day, got out some tools to fix the leak, Dropped a tool on the ground, spar...

Copper and brass will work harden any time it is bent, crushed, stretched, etc. To anneal copper or brass you heat to red and quickly cool, as in water. A local Flying service tore down their C-185 for rebuild at 10,000 hours due to fatigue cracks in the upper wing skin. The local A&P IA says it is not uncommon to see fatigue cracks in wing skins of cessna aircraft with 10,000 hours. Not likely to fall out of the sky but something to watch for wi...

You can put the bleed valve up or down either way the brakes are mounted. Most planes around here have the brake line entering the top and the bleed valve on the bottom. Then the fluid is pumped into the bleed valve with a squirt can and short hose to fill the system, automatically bleeding the whol...

Used to be a all aluminum 170 with a nosewheel, behind some buildings and chain link fence at Chandler Field, Fresno, CA twenty some odd years ago. Don't know if it is still there or not.

Something to consider putting in your First aid kit is some powered CAYENNE Pepper the hotter the better. Really good for cuts to stop bleeding and fast healing with no infection. Does not burn in a cut and will be absorbed by the body. Try it next time you cut yourself, just fill the cut and tape c...

I am in the process of installing individual cessna seats in the rear seat position. They bolt to the side with two bolts and the backs slip into sockets for drop in pull out use. Look around commercial 180-185 operators and you can probably find some examples.

Hope you ordered the stainless steel version, it will prevent a lot of grief with the compass. I had a steel brace for a few years and never could get the compass the way I wanted it. Bought Attlees' stainless brace and had no more problems with the compass.

Might keep in mind that some auto insurance companys frown on fuel tanks in the back of a pickup. And public airports are becoming more of a pain as to where or if you can leave a trailer mounted tank on the airport. Might want to talk to the airport manager to see what hoops you need to hop through...

IO360 Exhaust Problem

Friend of mine recently installed a IO360 using XP Mods of WA STC; sounds like the exhaust is off a o300 with some modifications. One muffler failed at about 25 hours, and a exhaust stack failed at 80 hours, apparently from over heating. He's wondering if others are having the same problem and or wh...
