Re: Airworx 180HP O-300 STC

Its cool to know that you can get a fixed pitch MT prop that will work on the O-300. But if you follow the TCDS won't you be limited in diameter to 74" ?

Re: Airworx 180HP O-300 STC

For those of you not following along on Facebook... Continental O-300 HP upgrade STC update. We are still working on the STC and our engineer doesn’t think it is going to be an issue to get done. We are cutting our PO today so he can get it done. He has already developed the paperwork package and ap...

Re: Seeking a willing owner and airplane of 170 Near Tampa Fl

Yes there is an adapter made by saber , purchased thru sensenich for the o300D 6 bolt crank. 82 “ prop. No adapter for 8 bolt crank that I know of. Ummmm if you want info holler at me. Have available engine 😉 with prop from sensenich. Does 300plus hours count all, vibe analysis done with dynavibe. ...

Re: Seeking a willing owner and airplane of 170 Near Tampa Fl

The stoots STC is flying with an 83” prop seemingly without clearance issues.

With a 82” blade the tips are turning 659 mph @ 2700rpm.

Re: Seeking a willing owner and airplane of 170 Near Tampa Fl

If ya can’t find one down south I’d gladly loan mine in Rhode Island. Last I asked sensenich they didn’t have a hub for an o300 and had zero plans to make it happen.

Glad to hear that’s changed. I’d happily buy one.

Haha. In my case the engine and prop were last overhauled in 88.

Re: Harmonic Balancer Stuck?

My 170B behaves the exact same way. At climb power and cruise (2450) engine/prop is relatively smooth. When I pull back power in the pattern to 2100 on the downwind leg (I'm not in a rush...) I feel an increase in vibration. I had my propeller dynamically balanced and it improved smoothness across t...

Re: RC Allen Mini6

So after speaking too the Product Manager at RC Allen. While the Mini 6 is certified as a primary instrument for Airspeed, Altitude, Attitude, Heading ,Turn/Slip, and Vertical Speed he still recommended that I speak to my FSDO prior to yanking everything out of my panel. "The FSDO may ask you t...

RC Allen Mini6

I've been daydreaming about yanking all the steam gauges from my panel and replacing everything with a single RC Allen Mini6. (Or Perhaps GI-275) I only fly VFR. My 170B is a bit on the nose heavy side of the spectrum. From what I'm reading I should be able to save myself a good 15 lbs off the back ...

I'm no expert but it seems like lots of people are running the 8042 under the Kenmore STC with good results. The 8042 is an 80" prop.

Re: Baby bushwheel on 8.5 mains?

Reason 3 is definitely a strong one. If you are really going for tailwheel bling there is also the T3 on a field approval. Does anyone have a source of Desser 8.50-6 smooths? Everyone I have contacted about them is sold out. Desser doesn't know when they will have stock again and has a waiting list....

Re: The future of 170's

I hope that the passing of MOSAIC will up the gross weight of LSA to include the majority of the GA fleet. I think this will greatly reduce the costs associated with upgrading and maintaining vintage aircraft while allowing more manufacturers to sell new aircraft that are "affordable." Whe...
