Re: Original W&B and equipment listed - WHY?
Hears a really good answer to your question, share with your IA as basically, he's just trying to keep his but out of the weeds and yours as well. My "new to me 170B" weight & balance is on my "list" of things to fix. Hopefully, this link will work..... http://twisted-wrench....

Re: New Tailwheel Leaf Springs too thick
After reading this thread yesterday when I got home I realized something was missing on my New2Me 170B tailwheel assy. My tail fork assy had been replaced in the 90's with the "improved" set up but the "U" Bolt was never installed as far as I can tell. No evidence of wear on the ...

Re: Axle question.. 52 170B
The first axles on 170s were hollow aluminum with four 5/16” holes in them for AN5 bolts. The hollow aluminum axles would sometimes develop cracks at the interior machined steps of the axle…so Cessna modified the hollow aluminum axles to a more “robust” design… which also developed cracks at the in...

Re: Axle question.. 52 170B
Hollow steel axles vs solid Aluminum ? I'm going to take a WAG and guess the hollow steel is stronger than the solid Aluminum? I assumed my 170b had hollow aluminum & I bought some used solid aluminum axles. After getting 1 side apart I realized my axles are hollow steel... With 4 small bolts. ...

Hello from new member/ N2483D
Hello, fellow 170 enthusiasts. My name is Mike Dillon, I recently purchased a 1952 170B N2483D from a neighbor and am in the process of restoring it to airworthy condition. It was parked in dry hanger in North Texas for last 20 years so it became a nest for mud dobbers & other "critters. Th...
