Re: Tires for awb 2500 skis

I've got 8:00x6 on mine and they fit fine. I'm not sure of the brand.

Re: Plane Power Alternator

They are very similar to the Denso. The parts may interchange, I'm not sure. The case is a little different and mine also has the external regulator.

Re: Plane Power Alternator

I have always had good luck with B&C as well but they don't make a certified alt for it, only experimental. I hounded them for a couple years every time I saw them at trade shows to get it certified. I gave up and bought the plane power as soon as they got theirs certified.

Re: Plane Power Alternator

I had an old alternator on it originally. I can't remember if it was Cessna or Ford. However they are rediculously heavy and mine was in need of overhaul so I went with the light weight plane power alt as an upgrade. Hopefully the new one will have more longevity.

Re: Plane Power Alternator

I agree Dick. At the time I did my conversion MT props were not available yet so for the 180hp you were stuck with a Hartzel prop if you wanted constant speed. That made the IO-360 that much more appealing to be able to use the McCauley prop. Of Course 30 more hp was a big factor too. :) I have some...

Re: Plane Power Alternator

Customer support just called me back. They said the only thing they would be willing to do is have me mail them my alternator at my cost. They would take it apart and repair it at my cost if it was repairable and mail it back to me at my cost. Oh how generous. :x

Re: Plane Power Alternator

Well its not looking good so far. Plane Power or Hartzell now, says they consider this a disposable alternator. There is no overhaul procedure and no overhaul parts available. They have a two year warranty on it that they say is nonnegotiable. Surprisingly the guy admitted that they put the two year...

Re: Plane Power Alternator

I did check all the wires and they all seemed tight and in good condition. The field wire has battery voltage at it with the master on so I think the regulator is working. I think I'll bench test the alt on Monday to confirm it is the issue.

Plane Power Alternator

Has anybody else had reliability issues with their Plane Power ER14-50 light weight alternator? Mine slowly but surely started taking higher and higher RPM to get it to come online until today it failed completely. It has less than 200 hours on it but its about 3 years old so its out of warranty. I'...

Re: which skiis

I have used the Landis and the Aero skis and both are a great ski and will work well for you. I am running the Aero 3000's on my 170B. The Aero 3000 is comparable to the Landis 2500 in foot print for floatation. I chose the Aero's for a couple of reasons. The Aero's get that foot print by being wide...

Thanks for the vote Dick. However I don't do much maintenance for hire anymore.
I do give a lot of free advise though. :)

Re: Skis

Thanks. Yeah, I have been a dealer for them for around 20 years and had encouraged them to build a website a number of times over the years but with no luck. They are such great guys but their fax and email are high tech enough for them. They are old school but we love them that way. A couple years ...

Re: There I was with three strippers

You may already know this trick but with the "Aircraft paint stripper" if you apply it generously to the surface to be stripped and then cover it with plastic while you wait for it to blister up you will find it works even better. Also it works much better if it is in a room that is a mini...

Re: Baggage compartment door mod

Tom, of the four that I have installed the rivit holes haven't lined up on any of them. If you are lucky you might be able to adjust it to line up about half of them. George is right they all have that splice. The best advise I can give you is it is easier to make the opening for the baggage door bi...
