Re: carburetor problems

Thanks for the excellent feedback. I am not and A&P so I will pass this information along. George, in answer to some of your questions, we did check the discharge of the pump and there was good discharge. I've had the airplane over 20 years and nothing has ever been done to the carb. I'll have t...

When the throttle is advanced very rapidly the engine will actually die unless I retard the throttle at which point the engine will catch back up. I don't ordinarily push the throttle in rapidly but by chance I tested it and found this pr...

Re: Headliner Installation

The wife left and took the cat about 10 years ago. Tried the snake but I think I'd perfer the mice. Someone told me today that the fabric softner sheets you put in the dryer works. Anyone tried that?

Headliner Installation

Can anyone point me to a good reference source for installing a headliner (wool) in my 170A? I did it years ago but have forgotten the steps I took. I know it can be frustrating if not done properly. Also, on a related note, does anyone have a proven method for keeping mice out of the airplane? I've...

Carpet Pad

As long as we are on the subject of carpet padding, let me throw this in. Be very careful if you decide to do your own flame retardant treatment. Don't make the mistake that I did that cost me around $3600. Read the label carefully on the treatment that you choose to see if it's corrosive. After tre...

Retractable Seatbelts

I spoke with Jack Hooker at Sun-N-Fun concerning the retractable seatbelts that I heard he was developing. He said that they were complete except for the paperwork and should be introduced at Oshkosh. The price he mentioned was somewhere around $375 each, meaning each side.
