Re: Rosen Sun Visors

I very much appreciate the thorough discussion about ROSEN'S VISORS. Purchased two years ago and will install in next 6 weeks In 1972 my airplane SN 26433 was tied down next to a 170 at WEISS airport St Louis. I was a newbie and he was one of the pioneering members of the Cessna 170 Association. He ...

PROP SHOP INVENTORY

I know prop shops exist but I have never been inside one or know the location of a prop shop.

My inquiry is do prop shops have an inventory of the common NEW props for single engine aircraft ?

Re: BAS TAIL HANDLING HANDLES

I saw someone having the handles installed on the ramp at petiti jean, ARK. 2005/2006 ? They were using a cordless portable drill and the installlation went neat and quick. Owner and installer were smiling happy. I was so impressed that when I returned to St Louis I called BAS and ordered the Pull T...

Re: Headliner Installation

Twenty five years ago the mouse trap served me well. I was doing IFR training in N2890C without a real intercom system The CFII was increasingly having trouble hearing controller / tower calls in the cockpit. Discovered that mice had become residents and ATE THE SPEAKER CONE ; for desert I assume. C...

Re: ELECTRIC TOWBAR FOR SCOTT 3200 FOLDING

I am still looking and listening for tow bar ideas. The modified powerful cordless electric drill idea still attracts my attention since the features of froward / reverse and a clutch type mechanism are self contained in the drill housing itself. Has anyone actually seen one up close ? Regards

ELECTRIC TOWBAR FOR SCOTT 3200 FOLDING

I NEED a little hlep moving A/C in and out of hanger. Have heard of innovative persons making their own with a cordless drill basis and machine shop work. Never saw details / availablity. Re: Cessna 170 Resale values

My A/C is kept at St Clair, MO Franklin County

The FAA registered address is my residence 38 miles from airport in suburb of St louis, Mo . St louis County.

I am not being treated fairly by St Louis county.

Re: Cessna 170 Resale values

I have a question about Cessna 170 Resale Values. Is there a valid authoritarian source for valuation of used G A aircraft? If so does this source have a vested interest in researching and publishing the stated dollar values? I pay personal property taxes on A/C to a county that arbitarily post a va...

MODERN ANTENNAS ON OLD TAILDRAGGER JU52

I tend to see aviation through C 170 glasses since that is the only aircraft I really know. So I was in a movie a few days ago. I had heard there was some aircraft in Valkery and that to set the director in the mood Tom Cruise had taken him up in a personal P-51 w barrel rolls and loops prior to sho...

NEW FIBERSCOPE TOOL ATS

I AM POSTING TO ELICIT COMMENT ABOUT A NEW TOOL. ATS catalog item no VS36-10WW pg 7 Visual Optics Video-Stik Fiberscope with built in video out jack. 2.5" color monitor. The idea apparently is to record condition of internal cylinder at each annual inspection. Does not appear to be a lot of mon...

Re: Ugly Crank

I would like to see a picture of the TOP of piston.

What was the condition of the combustion chamber ? Gouging from broken ring pieces?

No damage to the valves/valve seats is a real mystery

Were these ovesize pistons installed at overhaul or standard size.

Re: Old Gyros ... and Radium.

I still fly behind a AN gyro, it is still a legal installation. There are so many of the ".... ruining the earth" scenarios. Radium in the landfill we don't need. I remember having glow in the dark spurs as an 8 yr cowboy. Hopalong Cassity ? Am I correct in assuming that most of the AN gyr...

Re: O-300-B approval

Question Would the B designation be on the engine data plate? My original engine is off enjoying service as a florida airboat powerplant. C 170B 1954 sn 26433. The replacement engine came out of a 172 and I think I heard 0 300 B as the replacement type. At the time I think a comment was made that it...

Re: STEAM POWER FOR CESSNA 170

An aircraft cabin heated with steam would be nice maybe even too civilized. I have heard that sev ideas about routing heat into the leading edge of wings in attempt to provide a deice mode were patented, prototyped , never placed into production. Many inventors have a passion for an idea and become ...

Re: STEAM POWER FOR CESSNA 170

There apparently is not much shaking in research for STEAM POWER in any mode of transportation. There is a handful of innovations that were patented and have lived their life of 17 years protected by the PTO. It is now free technology and no one is working a product line. BOEING has just flown an ai...
