Re: Master solenoid

I sometimes see this type part on sale at EBAY.

Sometimes it is NOS, NIB , used and sometimes you may purchase a defective part. So bid accordingly.

Many mechanics , owners etc are cleaning out man treasures that they just never got around to using.

Re: STEAM POWER FOR CESSNA 170

Bill Lear died in 1978 and I have to wonder if modern steam engine technology research stalled. I had heard that he had made some kind of technology break through but perhaps that was not the case. He made a steam bus and converted a chevy monte carlo to steam. Engine s OK but every thing else broke...

STEAM POWER FOR CESSNA 170

I am sure that this is not an original idea. I just can't be the only one. I read the post about making you own fuel . At any rate when they began to talk about the condenser on the cracking tower I remembered the Stanley twins. Steam Engine. Just a few years ago a petroleum engineer updated his Sta...

Re: Any interest in new shock panel cover assy.?

I don't think Fiberglass would ever be right for 170 replacement parts. Fiberglass is barely tolerable for boats. For classic aircraft ? I don't think so. It must be the distinctive weave of the fibers in the carbon graphite fibers that mesmerizes young people purchasing auto replacement hoods of ca...

Re: Any interest in new shock panel cover assy.?

I have been thinking about this very component.

Thinking about advanced materials.

Carbon Fiber Cloth . It is more expensive however the increased value/service can be considerable.

Re: Annual inspection and options

To Gordon I feel your frustration and pain. I have been in similar situation several times over 30 years. You have a great benefit in this forum. Think of how you would feel if you were not backed by the knowledge database of all these great 170 pilots. A few tips that I would like to add. It is alw...

Re: First woman to solo around the world

I saw Jerri Mock's C 180 hanging from ceiling of the Smithsonian Air & Space muesum in 1983. Remember thinking , "This could be done in a C 170." Years later I met two ladies at OshGosh who were displaying their Piper TriPacer that they had flown around the world. Unique individuals wi...

Re: DOES YOUR SCOTT 3200 "STEER" W RUDDER PEDALS

N2504 This is the kind of information I am trying to search out. I finally located part # 38 the small pin on the Bushwheel line drawing. Now as to the reason it is not listed in the parts list we will probably never know . Oversight , maybe. You say that this pin is often ignored and some times it ...

STEER OR NO STEER SCOTT 3200

I think G A Horn posted about Friction Plates acting like a clucth until they were overlubed. Still have tailwheel questions. What are the Part Numbers for these friction plates? Do these plates ever wear and get replaced? I have seen machine manufacturers supply replacement parts that are not same ...

SCOTT TAILWHEEL 3200/3450 SERIES

My C170B s.n. 26433 (jul 54) shows that a Scott 3200 tailwheel was an optional upgrade ordered when new.

My question is to ask what is the difference between a 3200 and a 3450 style tailwheel ? Are the internal mechanical parts the same for both tailwheels?

Thank you for the many post in my desire to be more informed about the Scott tailwhel. I need the Parts list in one hand and the comments in the other. I'm not quite there yet. DOES YOUR SCOTT 3200 "STEER" W RUDDER PEDALS

I am curious as to how many members have Scott 3200 tailwheel that works correctly over an extended period of time. It has been over 20 years since i have seen one disassembled and as I look at the Parts diagram in exploded view I can no longer recollect the exact role that each part performs. New p...

SKYCATCHEL moder 162 Rittre Blothel or Rittre Sistel? :ror:

You have all probably seen the promos The model designation is 162 . Fits between 152 and 172. So is it to be known as a little brother or little sister to the model 170? I have seen a prototype painted w maroon lower front and white in rear fuselage area. Nose wheel pant is maroon and the photograp...
