Believe it or not, Waco actually designed it this way. 8O 8O (Waco N series, they didn't make very many.)

Re: Should be a Law Against This

At least it still has two wings, a round engine, and roll-up windows.
But what were they thinking when they put that monstrosity under the nose???????? :?:

Re: Recording tach woes.

I don't believe that the recording hourmeter part of the tach is required equipment.......
My airplane didn't even have a recording tach when it was new.
No reason not to fly it, unless your desire to have the hourmeter accurately indicate total time is greater than your desire to fly

Re: Elevator Balance

You mention that you believe that you want to balance with 4 lbs at 23 inches. This would be a moment of 92 inch-lbs. The balance table attached to Cessna SNL 86-44 tells me that the balance moment should be +23 to +27 inch-lbs. If you are using a 4 pound weight on your fixture, then you want to ach...

Re: Fixing Previous Unapproved Repairs - Welded Aileron Brac

From your description, I believe that you are talking about 0422200-3 (Figure 8 of the Ragwing IPC, Ref 8-63).
This part is available from Univair for ~$1200. 8O

Re: Installation of Cessna Shoulder Harness Kit in '48 170

I really like the BAS harness in my '48. The STC covered installation of the nutplates.
They are a lot more than $195, but I have no regrets.

John did you receive a certificate with the same month or about but 3 years from your old certificate. OR since you were "Johnny on the spot" with the reregistration, did you receive a certificate 3 years from your registration date? In effect losing several months of valid registration. ...

Re: A 170 that won't three-point land?!

I do 3-point landings most of the time in my ragwing.
I don't experience what you describe.
It's pretty common for my tailwheel to touch first ( so maybe that would be a 1-point??? ).

Re: Early Brass fuel valves

My references show that AN816-6D is for 3/8 tube, with 1/4 inch pipe thread. :!: If you want a fitting for 3/8 tube, with 3/8 inch pipe thread, you would use AN816-6-6D. Or, if you want one for 3/8 tube, with 1/8 inch pipe thread, you would use AN816-2-6D. I believe that "4-way" actually r...

Re: Early Brass fuel valves

Now you're trying to confuse me!! :? My old fuel valve (and my IPC) call for 1/4 inch pipe thread fittings. (Figure 38, line 29, P/N AN816-6D) I believe that we need a 3 way valve rather than a 4 way. A 4 way would have the outlet on the bottom of the valve, where we need the outlet on the front. Al...
