Re: Loran is OUT... GPS is IN.... well.....

I recently removed my loran, which was an Azure Long Ranger, portable, with a panel mount tray. Always worked great. The installation instructions stated several times that any antenna should never be mounted within the 'shadow' of another antenna. For instance, if you have an 18 inch comm antenna, ...

Re: Swine Flu and H1N1

You're correct George. That's exactly like saying the FAA lives off our tax dollars, and the more they regulate, the more they get. The CDC is as full of bureaucrats as any other government agency. How did we survive before it existed? Talk about the Surgeon General. 75% of the time, they are neithe...

Air Force One photo op????????

Word coming from Andrews AFB, from a few friends there, is that the back-up Air Force One B-747 that scared th bejesus out of folks in NYC, was NOT really a photo op flight with an F-16 camera chase plane. It was a payback joy-ride flight for some big time contributors/supporters to Obama's presiden...

Re: Swine Flu and H1N1

So far, there have been more deaths in bicycle accidents this year than by the swine flu. The Center for Disease Control, (CDC), lives off of taxpayer dollars. The more hype and hysteria they can arouse, the more of our money they get. Previous poster was absolutely correct in saying it was a distra...

Re: US Air in the Hudson

russfarris: The JAL plane was a DC-8-62. It was bought by Airborne Express in 1986 and converted to a freighter. It was registered N808AX, and is in my log book several hundred times during my years with Airborne. 808 was actually a very good flying, and dependable aircraft. Sold, and scrapped in 20...

Re: PPonk STC

It really does make you wonder. I watched an annual inspection on a C-172 completed, from start to finish, one noon time while having lunch at the local airport restaurant. The owner and the IA never even removed the tie down ropes. Don't know where they went, but neither is around the airport now. ...

Re: PPonk STC

Did an annual on a C-170A a few years ago that had the P-Ponk mod previously installed. Found the 7 rivets on the gearbox lip broken. Replaced them, and asked the owner if he had any idea how that may have happened? His reply was that he flew from a grass strip, and he liked to do touch and goes on ...

Re: 5606 oil

Keep it away from any open flame, or ignition source. It is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE, especially when it is misting. A USAF C-141 cargo jet burned to the ground in 17 minutes many years ago when a #3 hydraulic system accumulator blew it's cap, and misting H5606 fluid reached the overhead compartment lights,...
