Re: Dreaming of a 170...anyone in NY?

Atlas, Draw on these individuals that have knowledge of the 170. You sound like a young intelligent individual. Be sure that when you do find the plane you want, that you rely on a person with knowledge and experience with that aircraft. I would encourage you to do these thinks while you are young. ...

Re: Cold Weather Operations

Ryan,
I prime mine about 4 or 5 times in the winter. It may differ from plane to plane. Being that cold be sure you have a strong battery. Check the weather * check the weather and then check it again.
Met you at Triple Tree this past year.

Ryan, I don't know if I can get my hat on after your expression of kind words. Likewise, it was a pleasure to meet and talk airplanes with you. I would encourage you to stick to your plan. Always have goals and dreams that you seek to accomplish. Feel free to PM me if you think I could help. John

Re: Pilots seat secondary stop

I hesitate to reply to this discussion, but if it will save someone's life I'll share my experience. In November 1984 I was on take off in my 170b, pushing forward on the yoke, airspeed about 35mph and the pilot seat slid all the way to the back seat. The previous owner had removed all seat stops fo...

Re: Battery Replacement

I agree with George, go with the Concord. They may cost a couple of dollars more, but it's worth the extra bucks. I got tired of replacing the Gill after short periods of use.

Blast Tubes Fabrication

I’ve read with great interest about the importance of correct positioning of the blast tubes that reduce engine oil temperature. I’ve never been satisfied with the high oil temperature in my ’52 170B with a 300A, with “D” accessory case and with oil filter adapter. The right blast tube is ...

Lee,
Save some money and put it in yourself. It is fairly easy to do. I order mine and all they required was the distances between the bows.

Bruce, If you need to replace the headliner, you will not feel sorry for the little criters. I replaced mine this month. Kyle, I use the same location for the sticky pads and it works very well. One other point that has not been suggested, I've used the canned foam around the bottom of the hangar wa...
