Re: A PILOT GETS HOME LATE…

I read this and said, "someone has been watching us at the airport". When I got to the last line I said, "I know they are watching us now".

And....to really muddy the water....notice that the Service Manual, 100 Series, 1962 and Prior....is not approved data. 8O (Just don't let anyone over at the FAA know that.) Maintenance manuals in use by air carriers, transport category aircraft, are FAA accepted data. Normally the only manuals tha...

Re: 9183A destroyed in hangar collapse

A terrible tragedy for you, us and all the other aircraft owners in the hangar. Another 170 gone, what a shame. We all assume it was totaled from your description. I have seen and heard of numerous buildings collapsing from the storm. How much snow did you have? I worry about my hangar now. I don't ...

Re: 1950 170A 9958A (S/N 19318)

I've heard bolts called a lot of things specially rusted fast bolts but never a Joe Bolt. What is that? It's a high strength fastener use mostly in transport category aircraft. It's almost like a Hi-Lok if you are familiar with those. JO-BOLT INSTALLATION KIT from Brown Aviation Tool Supply Co. The...

Re: Spark Plug Gap?????

The question is how did you end up with the gap below minimums :?: My gapper goes in the vise and has two fingers that press on the electrodes, I put the gap gauge that I want to use between the center electrode and the other electrodes and press them together, correct gap every time. This is a very...

You could order the CD from the FAA for that airplanes records. I do that for every aircraft I'm interested in buying. It's only $10.00.

Re: Dry Cell Battery

You can use the standard charger on the Concorde and the dry cell batteries. Some chargers have settings for different types of batteries.

Re: Dry Cell Battery

O.k. without looking like a farmboy that hasn't been off the farm in awhile......... My plane has been changed over to a dry cell battery. How do they work? Do you charge them like normal? How long do the last? The thing doesn't look very big does it have cold cranking power? Thanks for you comment...

I don't know about that...everytime I have had cow patties on the bottom of the wing it has taken a brush with soap and water.

Re: Good Oshkosh 170 pictures bad Beechcraft pictures

My grandaughter and I were in the third 170 just on back down the taxiway about 100 yards. We watched the whole scenario develop. As Roush over corrected back to the runway I saw the nose pitch up and I said my granddaughter, good decision he's going around, but the aircraft then rolled right and im...

Re: Actual Altitude

Don't think so, Rick. Absolute altitude being one's height above ground level where ever one happens to be. As Ron Jencs pointed out earlier, gps is very useful, as I can attest, while hiking and camping for locating one's height above sea level on the side of a mountain. If it were absolute altitu...

Re: In straight flight

Well finally got a chance to check some things yesterday. Ailerons look to be in neutral, both are down about 1/4 to 1/2" at the wing tip, both flaps are faired with the fuselage fairing. We then checked both eccentrics and found the left one all the way down and the right one all the way up. I...

Remember your GPS is absolute altitude rather than pressure altitude.

I read the NOTAM 2x's now all the way though and it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult, just no talking and keep your eyes peeled eh 8O
