Re: O-300 Camshaft replacement / Engine overhaul

New lifters and cams can be purchased at Aircraft Specialties in OK. That is also where I sent my crankshaft to get turned when I overhauled my O-300. I am sure there are good shops in either Anchorage or Fairbanks for this that would be easier for you.

Re: Removing sound insulation make inside louder in flight?

I have flown several airplanes that have the headliner removed. All of them are noticeably cooler and draftier than with a headliner installed. Something to consider.

You never stated exactly where you are located, but I recommend you call Tommy at Rio Grande Aviation in Del Rio. He worked my 170 as well as a buddy's when we were stationed there. (830) 775-2309

Re: Got her home.

Congrats on the beautiful plane.

Go up to altitude and get really comfortable with slow flight, maneuvering and stalls. You will then see that even 60mph is pretty fast for over the fence. Flying light with a stock wing on my B-Model, 50-52 over the fence is the normal.

Re: Ss brake lines

Go to your local "Race Shop" and procure a "owner produced" part. Several of us have been running them for year. They work great. Get some rubber Cessna gear leg fairings to run them down. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pnpages/05-22280.php?msclkid=edf37f28418d133647e61ff...

Re: Trim Setting for Takeoff

Just for fun.... sometime (with someone qualified in the right seat).... trim your airplane however you normally do.... then about 100’ let go of the yoke and slide your seat fully-back.... and see what happens. I think that is about the equivalent of Dakota moving all the way to the back of...

Re: Trim Setting for Takeoff

I always have the nose trimmed down for takeoff. The reason being is for some reason my hands leave the control wheel[seat sliding back or some other reason] the aircraft will pitch down and not climb and stall and if nose down it’s easily able to move that seat where you need it in a hurry. Accide...

George, do you even read what people write in the replies, before arguing with them? Several people has explained using the "deployed flaps" in those situations already. ." I didn’t realize it was an “argument”. I thought it was a discussion. Well George. You aren't reading or compre...
