Heater duct trim pieces
The trim pieces that go on the perimeter of my heater duct outlets for my '56 170B disappeared long ago, and I would like to reinstall them. These are the outlets that discharge just forward of the door, at floor level. Are there sources of these around, or should I have my sheetmetal guy craft some...

Floor wear plates
The carpet in my trusty 170 is really showing its age, and I would like to install a couple wear plates just aft of the rudder pedals, which would be on top of the existing carpet, to help out with this and also let my feet slide perfectly on that surface for uncanny rudder control. Which seems to e...

Engine Mount Bracket
The bracket on my 170B has a crack, and we are looking for the best source to obtain a replacement, which would be one of these:
40044 Bracket, Engine Mount (Right Rear & Left Front)
Can those with experience in such things provide some thoughts on how to proceed? I am ready to get it
thnx

Re: Repitch prop
Thank you gahorn: Your thought of " It does not impose undue strain on the engine to run it at 2500-2700 RPM continuously if at altitude. (See the power settings charts in the Owners Manuals." I have always been a bit mystified at this information in our manual, that is, that the charts pr...

Re: High temps and carb heat
LBPilot82's analysis and explanation is exactly what I have come up with; the mixture is further enriched when you apply carb heat and when you do it, slight roughness might occur. If I recall, the book recommends leaning prior to takeoff above 4,000 DA :? , so there are very real factors that come ...

Re: Landing technique
After logging more than my fair share of siesmic arrivals on my STOL 170B, I can say that the technique used and what is experienced between a non-STOL 170 and what you have is quite noticeable. It is not the easiest plane to make smooth landings in, from what I have experienced, compared to a Maule...

Repitch prop
I have been looking at ways to get my trusty '56 170B to levitate even faster, and am trying to educate myself on various options that would not include 180 hp and lots of $$$$$. I have flown extensively in the Montana/Idaho backcountry for many years and so far what has worked best has been: fly wh...

Hangar Floor Paint
I am looking to upgrade the nesting situation for my perfect 170B. I would greatly appreciate thoughts on which hangar floor paint has provided good performance for those that have done this. My floor is currently sealed (and the floor is about 15 years old) so I do know some etching is likely requi...

Re: VG installation with STOL kit
I am as usual, overwhelmed with the knowledge and support available from our 170org. Amazing. All are of course very welcome to stop in and take a coffee break here in Stevensville (Montana) and continue the conversation ! I will (with his permission) post a reply from the director of Micro Aero, wh...

Aircraft Serial Number
I own Cessna 170B Serial # 26728, and I am curious about what it Really Means. That is, do we (as an organization!) know what the number is of the last one off the line, and perhaps when this happened? The Airworthiness Certificate for my plane is dated March 3, 1957. So unless I am way off base, th...

VG installation with STOL kit
I have a (fantastic) '56 170B which I would easily lay down in front of a bus for. It has an existing STOL kit (Sportsman's I believe...) which clearly enhances its performance/handling. It also seems to make it even more the handful during our strong, gusty spring winds. Does anybody have any exper...

Performance Flowmatch Cylinders
I have a '56 170B with the O-300, probably 300 SMOH. I think it's clearly the perfect plane. But, is it possible to make it even more perfect by getting (some) percentage of xtra hp from flowmatching the cylinders? I perhaps should have done this when I o'hauled the engine; oh well. But if anyone do...

Ignition switch
My '56 170B needs a new ignition switch; the existing one is trashed after too many years of me abusing it here in our tough Montana conditions :? I cannot tell if the ones shown on this website are acceptable for use but it appears they are. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/igswitches....

Windshield cleaning
I had one (unnamed) person in my hangar perform some painting previously. I now have a very, very fine misting of white aircraft paint on my windshield. What would be the best way to remove it without damaging the plexiglas?
Thanks!

Cargo net tie down rings
There are some existing inserts in the floor of my '56 170-B that appear to be for cargo net tiedown rings that use a 10/32 thread. Does this type of tiedown ring actually exist, and if so, where can they be procured?
Thanks
