Re: 850 x 6 tires
You probably won't see any difference between 6's and 8.5's on airspeed. Why are you looking to switch? Are you planning on operating off-airport?

Re: Yoke and Yoke Shaft Refinishing
Bill Buchanan had his recently re-done. If he doesn't jump in here today, I'll tell him to add his experience to the discussion.

Re: Prop STCs
If you are going to go for an 80" prop, then go 80/40 or 80/42. I haven't heard of anyone running an 80/43. You are looking for max performance, a 43" prop is a compromise and starts to negate the reason and $$ of the new props potential.

I heard it was a C-140, not a 170. A real loss either way. It sounds like this gal was quite the character.

Re: N7A - Change of Guard
We were blessed with a nice day of flying through the MT/ID mountains today. We had 15-20 mph headwinds the last three hours, our only headwinds of the trip. A shower along the flanks of Mt Hood, washed the bugs clean. N7A is tucked into her new home. Safe and sound. Congrats Aaron! Thanks for letti...

Re: N7A - Change of Guard
Well, work and Montana thunderstorms are finally clearing out of the way. I am headed back to Billings this evening and Aaron and I will be airborne for what should be an easy three hop trip to Portland, OR area tomorrow. Weather is forecast to be clear and fairly calm.

"I just need to figure out how to make ATC (and Jughead) happy when I say it on the radio. I think I even had him mixing it up there for a while." Yes, he even had me messing it up a few times. If it was mine, I would sell it faster than I could fly an oil-change off on a NYC to OR ...

Re: N7A - Change of Guard
300-350 makes a good leg distance. Variables such as wind and limited fuel stops may shorten that. Thanks for the offer in Spokane.

Re: N7A - Change of Guard
We ran straight west to just south of Chicago. We then flew 290 mad Eric heading all the way to Billings, MT. We will then follow I-90 through Mullan Pass in Mt. From Spokane we will proceed mostly direct to Portland area. Assuming the weather will be good in a few days.

Arron asked about fly the Hudson the night before. Some quick research showed it was easy and close. Glad we did it. Maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity for us.

Re: N7A - Change of Guard
N7A performed great today. After a quick visit to an old Air Force buddy’s stomping grounds at Van Sant, we took advantage of the weather to do a Hudson River tour of NYC before we pointed her west. After 7.4 hours, we shut down tonight in Vinton, IA. We will be airborne at sunrise, 0545. If the wea...
