Re: Poll: Carb Air Box Upgrade Possibility

Hay George, McFarlane is the number source of FAA/PMA parts for "9er 1 Charlie". Soooo.... to answer your questions. 1) I will not need to rebuild the intake box in the nest 2 years. However I would use the up-grade FAA/PMA Kit McFarlane is proposing. 2) I do not have an intake box to send...

Re: wing flap cables??

Hi Ian, I replaced all the cables, pulleys, and hardware in my 53 S/N 26035 a kin to S/N 26032. I used McFarlane parts and found them to be accurately manufactured. If you use the newer configuration with the turn barrels in the door post, it makes for easier rigging and safetying. Consult your A&am...

Re: SPEAKING OF DORKS, I THINK I'M ONE

Sundby: I recently replaced the control cables in (9er 1 Charlie) and you are right about the IPC being an incorrect depiction of elevator cable routing. From the fwd bellcrank the cables come together under the floor and travel aft one above the other, then travel through fairleads and emerge side ...

Re: How to make springs

Check out your local Cessna Dlr. The Hartwell latch your looking for is P/N H50002-032-064. The Cessna P/N is S1188-1 for $26. Wicks and spruce latches have different dash numbers and will not fit. Dennis

Re: New exhaust tailpipes don't quite fit

buzzlatka, I too had difficulty fitting my Knisely muffler. However I called Knisely and he was very accommodating. After discussing the miss-fit he said to return the muffler and he would fix and return it. I was finishing up the Annual with Dave Sos at Hrefi Aircraft in Orland CA (a great bunch to...

Re: Elevator bellcrank

Marstall your suspicions are correct. The rod attach to the fwd bellcrank is fwd and above the pivot. To avoid this dilemma, I have a bluebook to draw pictures with lots of notes to describe what I'm taking apart. I supplement this with digital pictures and sometimes video. Now is a good time to rep...

Rudder Bearings

Simon , I did find S1K-5, but this number, if represented and stocked as S1K5 or -5 is an incorrect number. I have received 3 different bearings under this number. One was the actual bearing P/N S1K5 and is not the bearing Cessna uses. It looked very different and not meant for the rudder applicatio...

Bushing

Hi Jim, Cessna wants $10.16 let your cessna dealer know your a TIC Member and ask for a discount and it may be less. I always start my search with cessna that way I know availability and price. Once I know what cessna wants for a part I make sure other sources aren't gouging me.

Hi Gary, Take a look at your IPC Fig 92 item 11. Its a filter for the optional Nav Lite Flasher. I found the flasher under my panel. The 2 parts are supposed to be instld on the glove box. These parts are superseded by more modern parts. The flasher under my panel got hot enough to cook breakfast so...

Rudder Bellcrank

Lionchoker, a little info first. what year, serial number, check the IPC, is the P/N 0433113? If so the bellcrank is available at cessna and others like univair... This would be a good time to check the entire rudder system for conditions that precipitated the slotted bolt holes. Since there is no a...

More Rudder Instl Pblms

If your 170 is in good working order, rudder installation is a simple proposition for your A & P. A couple of bolts at the top and middle, bushing, bearing, and bolt at the bottom and you're done. If your A & P Mechanic is having problems installing your newly purchased rudder, I would suspe...
