I'm happy with it but would like to try an 80/42 just for grins. Unfortunately, I don't think that prop is approved for ragwings.

Re: Landing Gear Box: Where can i buy two and how to install
A similar rumor circulated with respect to early C182's. While the bulkheads were pilot drilled for the gear boxes, the boxes themselves were ever actually installed.

Re: Hartiwg (Monarch) Fuel Caps on a Ragwing
Can anyone at least provide a "yes" or "no" on the question whether paperwork for this mod is available through the Association? Thx.

Re: Hartiwg (Monarch) Fuel Caps on a Ragwing
I am considering the Hartwig (Monarch) fuel cap mod as a winter project for my '48 C170. Did the Association ever acquire the Form 337 that Mr. Wood spoke of in his earlier posts? If not, has anyone else performed this mod and, if so, would you be willing to share your paperwork? Thx.

Curses, they missed my rat plane ('48 C-170), which is based at KTIW! Oh well, the pretty girls get all the attention!

Re: Bent gear?
I recently bought a set of Lady Legs from Tom Anderson at The Landing Gear Works in Renton, Wa. I paid more than what you see from private individuals, but Tom is a standup guy and I wanted to make sure I didn't get stiffed. They even came with an inspection certificate (I don't recall what kind) an...

Re: Eliminating fuel pumps
The question of tankage, vents and caps never came up. The FAA accepted that the only reason for the fuel pump was that the lines turned forward out of the tanks rather than aft.

Re: Eliminating fuel pumps
FWIW, the Seattle FSDO recently approved my 337 to remove the fuel pump, check valve, fuel pressure gauge and associated plumbing from my '48 C170. New fuel lines were installed with routing down the aft door posts to the fuel selector valve ala the A and B models. I drafted the 337 and flight manua...

Re: Best Three Mods
Yes, that is the issue. I have yet to see any definitive approval basis for installing solid aluminum axles on a '48 C170.

Re: Checking Knowledge
FWIW, my '48 170 has dihedral but not a tapered wing. Visibility over the cowl is outstanding.
