Re: Painting over Imron
Thanks for the feedback, Dupont sold the Imron product line to Axalta and the number of places that still sell it and can do color matching are much less than in the past. All the local paint supply houses near me no longer handle this product line. As I live in the Chicago area, I have a number of ...

Painting over Imron
I have what I thought was a simple question. Can I use automotive paint over Imron and will it stick? I want to do touch-up work on my plane which was painted with Imron about 15 years ago but there are almost no suppliers of Imron near me. If I have automotive paint mixed to the right colors, will ...

Re: Garmin G5 mounting the GMU-11
WJRem, I hope the attached photo loads to this site and is helpful to you John, The avionics shop in Rockford handled all the paperwork but as I understand it, my G5 was the more expensive certified type and they just had to file a 337. This was over a year ago when I also had ADS-B put it by a Garm...

Re: Garmin G5 mounting the GMU-11
This is a case where a picture is worth a thousand words but I don't have a picture at the moment. I have a Garmin G5 in my panel and it looks and works great. I had it installed in place of the artificial horizon (then sold the horizon on e-bay). The installation house however would not modify the ...

Re: Red Vented Fuel Cap Check valve
To all, Gary had mentioned I should probably post what I had found and learned so others in the group can benefit. 1) Gary had very kindly sent me two of the fuel caps with the plastic body. I was able to take the two caps and after a little sanding, priming and painting and combining of parts, buil...

Red Vented Fuel Cap Check valve
Hey All, I have two question that I really did try to search the web and this web site to find the answers to but failed. 1) On the Red Vented Fuel Caps, there is a red silicone check valve that has broken and fallen into the tank which is causing fuel to come out the top of the cap and onto my wing...

Re: Reasons for weak generator
George,
I work with electronics and have seen winding's fail but your right, it is rare. I like the particle getting in and damaging things theory. Putting a screen on the breather pipe is a good idea
Thanks

Re: Reasons for weak generator
Thanks all for the input. I am attaching phots of the field coil inside the generator. As you can see one side is all burned up. I don't know how this happend as the regulator (as I understand it) is limited to 3 amps of field current but it did happen and I suspect it has been this way the whole ti...

Reasons for weak generator
Hi All, Question for the group. My generator seams to have always been weak as noted by my amp meter. The other night it went out completely when under the load of the lights and stuff. In trouble shooting, I found the regulator had burned out and I think I might know why it burned out. I replaced t...

0-300 Cylinder numbers
Hi all,
This may seam like a silly question but, when looking at the 0-300 Continental engine, which cylinder is what number? I tried looking on the web and I get different answers with opposite numbering patterns depending on where I look and who is making the engine.
Thanks
Jim Collins

Emergency help!! Horizontal Stab mount holes elongated
I hope I can get an answer quickly as I am having an annual done now. The A&P who is very familiar with 170's found the rear most mounting holes for the horizontal stabilizer has elongated holes and not the round ones that he is familiar with. I have look at a past message thread and found that ...
