Re: Flap rollers SEB 95-3 Rev. 1
I replaced the rollers, etc. at my spring 2010 annual. What a pain in the butt  , but one that has to be done occasionally. Its a two person job at a minimum. We put thin foam rubber inside the flaps to prevent a dropped nut or washer from becoming a major effort to remove (and maybe having t...

Re: Fuel Smell
fuel smell in mine was a leaky fuel selector. Never much fuel smell, only when I would first open the door. All soft lines were replaced in 2000, but the fuel selector gasket as far as I could tell was the original.
That was fun to fix.

Re: Tailwheel CFI Listing
Aerodynamic Aviation at RHV in San Jose California lists a rental '52 170B on their website along with numerous other tailwheel machines. I did a BFR in this one a couple years ago.

Re: '98C Gets a New Interior
does moisture on the glue really cause a corrosion problem? in places like Tehachepi? sure, I'd rather have it all cleaned and chromated, but is this a real issue if you keep your airplane dry most of the time? MEK is nasty.

Re: New registration rule
Couldn't a single click at the town office send the data to the FAA when one does the local annual registration? Or would that be too simple? I guess you think there is local registration every where............... Try again....... That's life in Maine. Sorry to sound so naive. No reg req't in CA. ...

Re: FCC Bans 121.5 ELTs
Karl, Like so many 406 ELTs that model ELT will be illegal because it broadcast on 121.5 as well. If the rationale is safety, then the dual freq units (like this one with 406/121.5, not the 121.5/243 units) should be totally acceptable. But then this is the US government we are dealing with. I pred...

Re: Fuel valve rebuild and manual mistake WARNING
Ever since I first had to do maintenance on my fuel valve, I've had this picture in my mind of the very beginning of the Cessna 170 assembly line being a fuel valve hanging by a thread from the ceiling, then the airplane being build around it. Miles Ford had the same sort of procedure... sta...

Re: Flap rollers SEB 95-3 Rev. 1
I did this last annual, and found it pretty frustrating trying to get the dropped hardware out of the trailing edge of the flap.My magnet-on-a-telescoping-stick thingy couldnt get far enough into the trailing edge to fish out the dropped washers. After a while I found the easy way to recover the dro...
