Exhaust stack too short?
So, I have a '48 with a C-145-2 with the "new" exhaust ie, not the pancake. Anyway, the aircraft left, pilot side, seems to hang a couple inches shorter than the other side. It's barely, I mean barely, clears the cowling. I purchased it from AWI so, I assume they sent the correct part. Wha...

MOGAS STC
I'm perusing my engine logbook for an engine (new to my airframe) and it includes STC SA762GL and SE693GL My question is, does the STC SE693GL apply to my engine C-145-2? When I search for this particular STC it shows applicable to the C 170b O-300A SA762GL seems to be approved for my 1948 C170 airf...

Re: Piano Key switch grommets
OK. Quick shot of the short cut. This is a GREAT idea,...so long as you don't mind two tiny little holes in your plexi panel. I got a picture of his panel and thought I would share it here for the next person interested. 12202F2F-5330-4602-B9AC-E40B6465B94A.jpeg dstates, So, I may follow your proce...

Gas cap chain source? Wing sump sizing?
Couple of fuel questions, I'm still trying to get my '48 170 flying. The gas cap chains were very rusty, I'd like to replace, does anyone have a source? The part number came up with nothing and the description of Acco American Pattern was too vague. My wing sumps are leaking I'd like to replace the ...

Re: Mechanic needed West Texas or Eastern New Mexico
You never stated exactly where you are located, but I recommend you call Tommy at Rio Grande Aviation in Del Rio. He worked my 170 as well as a buddy's when we were stationed there. (830) 775-2309 Yeah, I guess that is important information. My airplane is located in Seminole, TX. It's between Lubb...

Re: Mechanic needed West Texas or Eastern New Mexico
Cory- You may have waited too long to get the plane back in the air quickly, before October, depending on what it needs, all the good shops are loaded up with work and everybody wants their job done now. But now is better than later to get on the list. Randy Long, 325-625-5495, in Coleman is famili...

Mechanic needed West Texas or Eastern New Mexico
Hello, I have a 1948 Cessna 170. My family has owned since 1989. I inherited a few years back. It’s been in a hangar at my family’s airport in West Texas. Last year we trailered it (wings installed) to an airport nearby to get her back up and running. I’ve kept my CFI current and the airplane with t...

Extended baggage for a rag wing??
Does anyone have any experience with and extended baggage area for the ragwing? I'm getting close to tackling the interior and I'm trying not to backtrack with work. I'd really like to extend the baggage area. I know the A and B model have a couple STC's but, I've yet to find one for my '48
Thanks
