What level do you guys keep it at? Or to ask another way, where does it settle at?
Thanks

Re: Top Cowl Screws Behind The Spinner
I considered doing that. I wasn’t sure there was enough room behind the cowl. Good to know. Thanks.

Top Cowl Screws Behind The Spinner
Is there a secret to getting these in and out on 170B? I’ve got a gear wrench with a #2 Phillips bit in it cut down to fit. It does work but I’m curious if there’s a more elegant solution. I am reminded of the old saying: “There are three secrets to making consistency good landings in a Cub. Unfortu...

Re: Oil temperature gauge issue
Thanks for that information. I have sent my original to Keystone in Lock Haven for repair. When that comes back (if it’s repairable) I’ll do the swap and get the original back in. The one that’s in there appears to work about half the time. Either zero, or correct. Must be the actual mechanical part...

Re: Oil temperature gauge issue
Thanks. There is a new one in there now and it’s the one that has the problem. No leaks at all. I have the original gauge. I have a call into Keystone instrument in Lockhaven to see if they will or can repair it. I have had them do J3 Cub oil temp gauges in the past. If that doesn’t work out and I h...

Re: Oil temperature gauge issue
Thanks for the responses. I got similar advice from my friends over on SuoerCub.org.
I will be changing it out shortly.

Oil temperature gauge issue
My new from Spruce oil temp gauge reads zero until some point when it starts working. Can be as little as 30 minutes and as much as more than an hour. Yesterday I flew for an hour in the morning and it started working halfway through the flight. I flew later in the day and it worked from startup. To...

Vented caps on both tanks ok?
I’ve searched this topic but still have a question. Any reason not use vented cap on the left tank as well the right? I ask for two reasons. 1. When I had my 58 172 I did this because it apparently had a blockage in the cross vent causing a vacuum in the left tank. The only symptom was oil canning. ...

Re: Mistaken Identity
In the late 80’s I had a 58 172 with the Bolen tailwheel STC. I took it to Sun n Fun a few times and camped. I’d come back to it and usually find a group trying to figure out what it was: “Not a 170. Wrong tail”. “Not a 180, no constant speed prop”. It was a straight tail with no back window. The Bo...

Re: New Member
Thanks Bob Putting all the avionics on the left in my airplane preserved the original 1952 panel but I have to say using the touch screen with my left hand is not the best. I guess more practice will help and I can use the knobs for most of the common stuff. I also learned the 375 using the simulato...

Rich, Hey nice to virtually meet a Brookhaven guy. I'm at Skylark in Ct with a 52 'B model as well. Sounds like you've got one sweet plane that you have brought up to date very nicely. I'm sure we will hear each other some evening or Saturday on 122.8. Come on up to Skylark any time we are a friend...

I’d like to attend the convention at Penn Yan. Like everything else it depends on this virus. Our county has about 1.5 million people and we have more cases than most states.
So, fingers crossed. We have been locked down for so long just thinking about that flight makes me smile.
