Solder for copper primer lines
I'm having trouble finding info on the proper type of solder to use for this. Specific location is the the soldered brass bulb/sleeve fitting where it attaches to the intake manifold jet. I have various electrical and plumbing solders around, but leaning towards some that's 6% silver and acid core. ...

Re: 1/16" x 5/8" Type 3 groove pin
Thanks of the reply. I'll ping Preferred Air Parts. Yep, I'm using SE73-25, and have confirmed that the pins in my outer housing are 1/16". I learned this after I mistakenly ordered the groove pins Mcfarlane sells, which are the 3/32 variety. My 1955 170b actuator also only has two pins total i...

Re: Wrong quick drain installed in tank
Not sure how or why, but my 55 takes a CAV160 in the right tank. -Guessing the tank was replaced or modified at some point or maybe they screwed up on the assembly line.
Point is, you can’t always go by the book.

Re: Sportsmen STOHL kit wing tip install?
Tape them right where you want them (after leading edge is installed). Then use a strap duplicator/hole finder to match drill the screw holes. Put screws in as you go. The tips sometime have gaps or aren’t a perfect fit so you have to decide where to put the slack. Best not to have it all end up in ...

Re: Approved Seat rail stops
By all means put seat stops in. However, if those are original tracks, I’ll wager a guess they could use replacing. Maybe the most important part is not having your seat come loose in the first place.

Re: Tailwheel steering cable issue
Has anyone ever converted back to the pre-55 cable setup? I wonder what the weight savings would be if you removed the extra cable and pulls etc.falco wrote:Anyone have any insight into why Cessna changed to this setup in 55?
The previous design is lighter, simpler, cheaper, more accessible, etc.

Heli lifting a 170
Purely hypothetical.. Say you wreck your 170 (A, B) somewhere with no road access, and you don't have seaplane lift eyes bolts. Assume it's too banged up to fly, but not completely balled. Maybe a ground loop, gear collapse etc. 1. How would you rig the plane for lifting by heli in a way that minimi...

Re: Baby bushwheel on 8.5 mains?
I just changed out my Venturi vacuum system,AI,DG, Transponder and encoder for 2 AV-30s and the tailbeaconX and gained 14 lbs useful load! That's a significant change. Nice work. How is the AV-30/xponder? -Have a friend considering it. My recently installed AV-30 DG drifts so aggressively it's unus...
