Re: Rear Bubble windows for my 170B

I was passed this information by a fellow association member. I think the folks at Aeroworks in Birchwood have some experience in this. Their phone number is 907-688-2376. I'm not certain, but I think you're looking to make an owner-made part, so be prepared to provide specifications.

Re: Hartzell 80 inch prop for 180 Lyc

I have an O-360A1A Avcon as well ... and had to add the float kit! So consider yourself very fortunate, and me very jealous! I have the 74 inch Hartzell prop, so I've also been considering this upgrade. I don't think the 80" prop STC comes fron Hartzell. In fact, when I spoke to them about it a...

Re: 8.50 tires

F. Atlee Dodge keeps saying they will have an STC for 850s (8.50 x 6) tires "any time now."

I used their double-puck cleveland STC when I moved to bushwheels.

Re: Private Airstrip On My Property

In Alaska, state law allows you to take off and land anywhere that's not expressly prohibited. Check the Alaska statutes online for lots of fun reading. Borough laws may be more restrictive. Based on the popularity of aviation in our great state, I can't imagine they'd be terribly so. Before you und...

Re: Cabin Insulation Material

Selkirk Aviation in Idaho sells pre-cut soundproofing kits as well as their fiberglass interior pieces. I haven't tried one (yet).

Re: What Part Is This?

Thanks again, Gary. I'll link the forum where you posted the kit instructions: http://cessna170.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=9710 And just to then answer my own question for sake of insanity, the part numbers are A591 Eyelet and C189 Washer. I'll update if/when I'm able to locate these parts....

Does anyone know a part number and/or source? Or have one laying around for sale?

I've often said that the ONLY thing that make me want to wake up early -- WILLINGLY -- is an airplane.

What Part Is This?

I was looking through my owner's manual one day, and I came across this. Door Lock Backing.jpg What is that part behind the knob on the door latch lock? It looks like an oval plastic trim piece, but I can't locate it in the illustrated parts catalog. I know the wise ones here will have an answer -- ...

According to Cessna Drawing 0541125, the 170 float kit installation drawings for Edo 2000s, "Total weight of all wires, struts, fittings and floats 251#" See excerpt below. Some folks may not care to hear about 170s on floats, but I'm very hopeful your project turns out well. I currently a...

Re: AI in Anchorage

To coin an aphorism: The only thing more expensive than good maintenance ... is bad maintenance. I have enjoyed working on and with my airplane; I'm currently in the middle of an owner-assisted annual. However, I'm really not saving any money. I certainly am not saving any time. I AM learning a LOT....

I just learned that you should never use chemical paint stripper on landing gear legs. According to the FAA, that makes them permanently unairworthy.

Re: Abrasion strips

Great topic! I have been looking for these since I first encountered gravel ... dents happen, even when you're careful. Does anyone have a good source for these strips? (Meaning: inexpensive) Is installation as simple as using some 3M 1300 glue? And yes, its a cessna part, so is it simply a minor al...

I thought I had replied this morning with this photo, and now its gone? The computer giveth and the computer taketh away. I'm glad that supply difficulties have been worked out and you're getting to the matter at hand, Pete. In addition to an IPC and/or an STC, here's a photo to help stop the alphab...
