Re: C-170B abrasion boots
Here are a couple of pics of the OEM Cessna Boots I installed a couple of years ago. I did not trim them and they extend aft of the rivet line. They look good in my opinion and have already deflected debris that would have nicked, or dented the leading edge. I used 3M 1300L adhesive on the contact s...

Bartone Crossbar Tubing
Good Afternoon, Well I have found some time over the next weeks to install the Bartone Pipe Set. The Pipes look great, and I would like to use the 304 Stainless Steel tubing crosspiece from which to hang the pipes. I have a question for anyone who has used this method. Aircraft spruce offers 304 SS ...

Re: Bartone Exhaust
Gary, thanks for the reference pics. My set arrive Thursday and I will go over the sketches with my mechanic and show him the pics you took as well. I know I would prefer not drilling into the firewall (just preference). I will post a pic of the install setup when completed. Mike

Re: Bartone Exhaust
My set of Extensions are to be mailed out this week, and I'm looking forward to installing them. Jim, what arrived with your set? My understanding was buyers receive a set of extensions, the STC, and instructions on installing. What hardware configuration is set out in the paperwork? If you can post...

Re: Main Gear Axle Attachment Bolts
Thanks George, Gary, Dogone for the advice, much appreciated. I will get the right grip length measured up and research the suppliers suggested. I had a set of Federal 2500A straight skis and we were just not getting enough snow here over the last years to hassle with them. I sold them to a fellow i...

Main Gear Axle Attachment Bolts
I have a set of NOS solid aluminum axles I would like to install as part of doing my best to complete the list of suggested upgrades to my 170. My mechanic wants to use new bolts hardware and I agree however I have questions for the knowledgeable forum crowd. A few years back I installed a set of L-...

Re: Gasolator Correct Drain Valve and Gasket Seals
Thanks again everyone for the information, I'm going to stay with the pyrex glass bowl for now and new gaskets and valve. I'm going with the bartone pipes and have seen pictures where the gasolator is relocated center, and some pics where it remains slightly right of center which brings it closer to...

Gasolator Correct Drain Valve and Gasket Seals
I have a leaking Gasolator Drain valve, especially after checking the bowl for water. I want to replace the drain valve with new and the glass bowl gasket seals both top and bottom at the same time, before ordering up the Bartone pipe extensions. The question I have is the parts manual shows Drain V...

Re: Bartone Exhaust
I called Pat and Sybil's number this morning to place an order for a set, and received their voice mail and left a message requesting a call back. I will ask Pat to confirm what hardware is included in the kit, and will post an update on here after confirming. I will need a couple of exhaust hole pl...

Re: O-300-D Install and STC
I came in second on the salvage bids on a low time O-300D within province, so my search continues, or end up rebuilding the O-300A. I still have hours left on this engine, just couldn't pass the D model up for the right price.

Re: O-300-D Install and STC
Afternoon Bruce, Thank You very much for the information. Just to clarify without sounded stunned, I would use my O-300-A muffler / Exhaust system on the O-300-D in order to exit through existing openings? My thoughts on removing the vacuum pump is that the venturi works well right now, and removing...
