Re: Gascolator Problem
May seem like a silly question but the bolt holding tension on the bail so it doesn't move is safetied. The nut on the other side of this bolt goes up against the bottom of the glass bowl. What gong to keep that nut tight?

Re: Gascolator Problem

Re: Gascolator Problem
You bet... I think there was a bit of tape on the old QD threads when I removed it but will definitely be using some #3 whenever my new QD arrives! It has finally warmed a little so I won't freeze as fast putting it back together. I had to move the bail out of the way to remove the QD so it made me ...

Gascolator Problem
It's been very cold up here lately and since we've had this cold weather I noticed a drip on my quickdrain on the gascolator. so i tried to get it to seat properly but in the end i had to remove it (the quickdrain) to inspect it. sure enough, bad gasket. so i borrowed another one (1550) from a local...

Re: Yet another new guy
Welcome Jim, that was quite the adventure in acquiring your new plane!! how did you come to decide on this particular one and a 170 for that matter. i came to the 170's mostly because of what was available to me at the time and really wanted to get into a bigger, useful load, tailwheel configuration...

Re: DIY thermostatically controlled electric engine preheate
Great, thanks Pete for posting up that HowTo. i use those same heaters but just wait a couple of hours depending on the temps. i do plan to put on a sump heater to aid in getting the oil warm. i've used these before and find they work great. we finally have some warmer temps, still freezing but at l...
