Re: OT Any Champ 7AC experts or owners here
Here is one of the responses on the national aeronca association website. "The flange shaft on a A 65 F is 1/2 inch longer than a tapered shaft ( where the prop sets ). On an AERONCA, you need a minimum of a 1/4 inch spacer on the shaft for prop, nosebowl clearance. most need the 1/2 inch space...

Not going anywhere fast but you will see everything along the way.
For those with a racing spirit you can pick any car on the highway and give them a neck and neck race.
Fun flying but nowhere as all around versatile as the 170!
The Light Sport aspect can be great compensation though.

Re: OT Any Champ 7AC experts or owners here
Just got home from a local theater production. Have commitment in morning but will get to plane around 1 pm and look for spacers, washers, and take some measurements and pictures. If you want to PM me a cell number I will call when I get there and you can ask any questions that come to mind otherwis...

Re: OT Any Champ 7AC experts or owners here
Bruce, My Champ is a 7AC that has a C85-8 which does not have an accessary case. The C85-12 does have one and therefore you can put a starter and generator on. The 85 plus a few other changes male it a 7DC and gross of 1300lbs still light sport. There is very little clearance between my nose bowl an...

That is a lot of post masters away and the magazine could pass through a lot of mechanical postal plastic eating machines.

Re: Shoulder Harness Options
Always thought installing the BAS harness was one of the best mods I did to my 52 170B. The freedom of the BAS is so nice when you lean forward to get the flap handle. Expensive but worth every penny in comfort and flexibility. I got the utility buckle and it is a little trouble getting the shoulder...

Be aware there are two types. Three hole and five hole sumps. Number of bolts that attach the sump to the engine.

BL would like us to think the side car is to extend the safety of one of his Vespa's but I think it is so he can continue to
travel with some of the younger members of the fairer sex.

Thanks Arash !
Great to put a face to the Blueldr mystique.
I hope his great barbed posts continue even though we now know where to find him and what he looks like.
Seriously when you go to pickup the engine see if you can get a picture of the famous Vespa.

Re: Take-off to clear obstacle. Whats your method?
I think Aryana has pretty well sumed this up. Might as well stick to PMs because this thread is going on permanent ignore for me. I haven't been here a long time, but IMO the tone of this debate doesn't fit with the spirit of the association . Bottom line, the opposing beliefs have been documented i...

Re: original headliner
During KP in the officers mess I was asked by a Captain what was being served for breakfast.
My response was “SOS sir” which got a response of “I will have some of the creamed beef on toast”.
Turned out he was the Chaplin!

DivCo is the company that welded my sump. They did a great job and their service and turn around time were good also.
