Re: Continental Mags: Are they junk?
Have been running the Electroaire system on my 0-360 (on the RV-7) for about 15 years. Never a electronic failure. Mechanical failure was a non- replaceable oil seal on the mag timing assembly that goes in place of the mag. Had to replace the whole unit.... Note, I did purchase this back when...

Re: Oil Pressure and Temperature Range
Sorry Frank, not unless they have been calibration checked with a standard traceable to NIST. :D But since all three read the same, it just gives you a warm fuzzy. You just can’t take off that old QA inspector’s hat, can you Ed? The same thing ran through this retired instrumentation engineer’s hea...

Re: Oil Pressure and Temperature Range
I used my differential pressure gauges to calibrate my oil pressure gauge. If all 3 agree, it has to be right. Right? Right! 3F0B117A-FA3E-46F3-B280-13801888D3CA.png Sorry Frank, not unless they have been calibration checked with a standard traceable to NIST. :D But since all three read the s...

Re: Master cylinder mounting brackets
My right side brackets broke on the 170, where the master cylinder bolts to the tunnel. I show 0411549 and 0411550 as the replacement, I see reports of either aluminum or steel, but they have the same p/n. Anyone bend these from .040 steel or similar? My bracket is in pieces unfortunately. I fabric...

Re: 1948 C-170 muffler / exhaust cracks
That IS NOT a crack in the muffler. It is a crack in the air heat baffle that surrounds the muffler to create hot air for carb heat and cabin heat. I don't know a lot about the old pancake mufflers, but it looks like some blind rivets are going through the heat baffle into the exhaust pipes....??? ...

Almost bought one of these back in 1983 at Noah's Ark airport, (just a stones throw from MCI). Was A beautiful well kept 195. I thought he wanted too much for it (14K) another lost opportunity.

Re: Brake Cylinder Problem
Dave, you don't have to take the lower attach point loose for this. Just take the shaft loose from the rudder/brake pedal, unscrew the assembly from the top of the cylinder and pull it out. If you still have that dorky parking brake, this should be disconnected for ease of repair. Install the new r...
