Re: Speed
I plan on 98kts. Recent retiming (mags were off by about 15-20*) has given me better GPH and seemingly better acceleration once I level off. It feels faster but I can't confirm that yet. May not be a rocket ship but it sure is faster/more fun than driving. Especially since my main source of transpor...

Dan's hangar is right next door to mine. Maybe I'll get him to teach me that trick in his DC-3 one day.

Re: New Guys
Hi Glenn. Welcome! My hangar is at Thomaston (OPN), although my airplane is currently in North Carolina being re-assembled. I'll be back over that way soon though. We have a couple of members in Newnan too. I'll drop you a note when I get back over that way and see if we can meet for a burger or so...

Yep. I was parked next to a similar version @ OSH this last year.
Man that was a great camping spot.

Re: Landing the '48
My plane is a '48 rag and I'm certainly no expert with a total of 40 or so hours in it. I find that wheel landings are more difficult than the three points especially on hard surfaces. I've been told it's a function of the spring gear which will launch you back in the air if your sink rate is too gr...

Re: Revisiting Oil Quanity Dip Sticks
On the dipstick note...I've noticed that I get a different reading from my dipstick depending on how I place it back in it the hole in my '48 with a C-145. It certainly has an angle to it and my partner and I have agreed that the proper reading is met when the loop in the stick is facing the firewal...

Re: New Guys
A thousand welcomes, Glenn! I see that you hail from McDonough, Georgia. If you happen to run across my brother Jeff (leftmost in the picture) say "HI!" to him for me. I'll try to remember to look you up next time I'm in the area. It's been almost 25 years since I've flown in a ragwing. 8...

Re: New Guys
I'm new to the boards and proud owner of a C-170. You guys don't know it but these boards have already been invauleable to me as part of my ownership experience. The wealth of information here has served me well durring the purchase and first year of maintenance for N4260V. I figured I'd sign up and...
