Re: Question for the Mechanics

There are a Lot of “old-mechanics’ tricks we’ve heard of that have a reputation for success. Only time will prove if this “savvy” method has virtue or not…and that would depend on how many people actually use the “savvy” method and document (admit) it over time so the rest of us can have faith in i...

Re: Generator questions

I have a 12A generator and it is working fine. I did switch every light I could to LED before I started upgrading avionics. I will likely upgrade to either a 35A or an alternator when I do my overhaul, but that's just because the accessories get rebuilt at that time as well. I do highly recommend a ...

Re: Question for the Mechanics

… You mentioned a drippy oil breather, if one or more of your cylinders are allowing excessive combustion gasses passed the rings you may be pumping the oil out thru blow by out the breather tube. A for instance was my O-300 would use about a quart in six, all my compressions always showed high 60s...

Re: One Less Engine Shop for Us

With Whom specifically did you converse…?? (I plan to visit with them shortly about their reasons….which I suspect has to do with the starter motors they prefer.) I believe her name was Crystal. She said it was to hard to get parts since they are no longer supported. She said the last engine they h...

One Less Engine Shop for Us

I just spoke to Western Skyways this afternoon to talk about an overhaul for my C-145 or possibly just some components work. They let me know that they will only work on O-300D models. They will not work on a C-145 or the A, B, or C models.

Gary,

I have a 51 A with serial number 20118 and here is it's paint scheme. Obviously the N number was added to the fuselage.

I’ll be arriving tomorrow morning. From the live cam I count 75+ parked there on Saturday night.

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

I just took a look at the live webcam from Airventure. I didn't see any 170's from the view of the Vintage camera, but I think I see them from the Ultralight camera. Anyone on the ground yet with a group parking report?

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

My wife and I are still sorting out logistics. If I fly and she drives to Airventure, does anyone know where she can park? I see that the normal lots do not allow overnight parking. Is Camp Schoeller the only option?

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

Jim has a point, and the last time I flew in, it was with Transponder off as well. But, for reasons unknown, the 2023 NOTAM calls for the transponders to remain on. Was the same in 2022 as well. Here's the quote: Approaching Transition Starting Point Ensure lights are on within 50 miles of OSH. Lea...

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

I just saw on Facebook that there are shirts you can order and a dinner on Sunday night. Is this being put on by TIC170A? Anyone have a picture of the shirts? Doug, looking at the email it is from Association Headquarters using Constant Contact which the Association uses and is identified as being ...

Will there be a 170 maintenance forum at Airventure this year? I remember going to one in 2019.

Can you share info on the part number of the Donaldson air filter and where you can get it? Does it take a STC?
