2022 Airventure 170 Pictures
For those unable to make it to Airventure this year, I did my best to take a quick picture of all the 170's I saw on the field. I'm not a photographer and I'd say most tent placement decisions did not consider picture taking. I believe Dan Wood stated in another thread that there were 50 170'...

Re: AOPA Sweepstakes aircraft: Cessna 170B
Check at 5 minutes into this video from AOPA. They recognize that her comments about rudder authority is getting grief from 170 owners. She didn't back down from it, but clarified that her thoughts were compared to her experience...

Will there be a 170 forum this year at Airventure? If so what is the time and location?

Re: Airworx 180HP O-300 STC
Well…we may be confused on terminology… but the fact is (and what I was attempting to point out)….. a taller piston will begin to compress a smaller volume of fuel/air than would a shorter piston…. all other aspects being equal. If a taller piston is installed in-place of a shorter piston….then a s...

Re: Generator and Tach Drive Torques
SB95-3B specifies 180-220 inch pounds for the generator mounting nuts. The tach drive housing is mounted with 1/4-28 nuts. Table B-5 in the Continental M-0 manual lists general torque specs for this size nuts as 90-100 inch pounds - significantly higher than the 50-70 inch pounds listed in the 100 ...

Re: Airworx 180HP O-300 STC
I’m having trouble with understanding this also. If the taller piston is installed … then the amount of air inside the cylinder at the bottom of the stroke is less than if a shorter piston were used. Is this considered “swept” volume? If only the height of the piston is changed, then on the intake ...

Re: Generator and Tach Drive Torques
The 100 Series Service Manual, 1962 and Prior has a torque-value chart, which is copied in the Mx LIbrary: https://forum.cessna170.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3571 Thanks, George. I didn't see anything about generator mounting torques in the 100 Series Service Manual. I'm specifically looki...

Generator and Tach Drive Torques
I’m not seeing anything in the Continental M-O for specific torques for the generator and tach drive studs. Can anyone help me figure out what torques apply? I just replaced tach drive and generator seals and the shared gasket.
Thanks!
Doug

Re: Airworx 180HP O-300 STC
Actually, taller pistons don't decrease displacement. Displacement is the volume of air that the piston pumps through the cylinder: bore area times crank throw. Clearance volume above piston travel affects compression ratio, but not displacement. So if space in the cylinder is reduced due to a tall...
