Re: Rosen Sun Visors
At an Angel Flight meeting during the Northwest Aviation and Trade show last year, someone from Rosen came in and offered Angel Flight pilots 40% off on the viseers. I bought a pair for my 48 and am just getting around to loook at installation. According to the intructions I am going to have to dril...

Re: Landing the '48
The topic is about landing a '48. The thread has drifted to flaps. The flaps on my '48 only come into use with three point landings on short grass strips. they are useless on the standard paved stip. '48 and B model flaps are apples and oranges.

Re: Installation of Cessna Shoulder Harness Kit in '48 170
A few years ago I contacted BAS about shoulder harness for my '48. They said that the next time I took the wings off to give them a call and they would come up and install them. Seems that the '48s are missing a nut plate in the carry through wing spar. I still dont have a harness. The Cessna kit lo...

Re: ELECTRIC TOWBAR FOR SCOTT 3200 FOLDING
I am now in the process of trying to convert my taildragger dragger to use with a winch. The previous hanger renter had a 172 and mounted a winch on the back wall to pull his plane in. I tried throwing a line around the tailwheel and pulling it in, but the Scott is pretty contankerous and its about ...

Re: Camping Equipment question
I carry a 2 and a half in. sleeping pad in the plane along with a sleeping bag, small tent, shaker stove all times. The small tent and pad are for those one night jonts. For longer stays, I bring along a big tent and twin mattress with pump as discribed above. I see REI now has a 4 and a half in. pa...

Highest Altitude, 11,700 in '07 taking pictures of Mt McKinley. What a Fantasic exdperience!! The Highest would have to be West Yellowstone at 6650 ft, but there is 8400 ft of pavement. On the same trip we dropped into Henrys Lake just to the west of WYS. It is 50 ft lower but only 4500 ft long and ...

Re: FAR 61.17 You will be shocked!!
I got my plastic cirtficate at Oshkosh in '05. I believe the FAA had just started to program. My cirtifcate # preceded the era of the SS#. Just last month I upgraded to englsih proficency. I belive the deadline for that in June of this year.

Re: Paper Certificates
Mine is 1511321. Pretty easy to remember. I got my plastic certificate back in '05 at Airventure. The English proficency thing isnt on it. I called the FAA on thursday and the lady told me I needed to get it on my certificate since I do wander in to Canada from time to time. I told her I was fluent ...

Re: Service Kit SK210-174A Seat stop
I had mine installed last winter and it works fine. I found that pulling the release and lurching forward releases the latch. I took the seat out for my last annual by just taking the bolt out of the floor plate. I enjoy the peace of mind of having it there, espcially when the back seat is out. Larry

Re: OFF TOPIC: Propane String Trimmer
I have one of those propane weedwhackers too, but it must be a newer model. I use a 3 gallon tank and it has a hose with a whole bunch of fire comeing out the end. Man, does it ever take care of those weeds!! Also good for cookin hotdogs for the lunch break.

Re: Canadian(Manitoba) Help
Order your Canadian Charts early. They can't be simply "picked up" at airports In July of 07 we left Seattle for a trip to Anchorage and parts thereabouts in my '48 170 with charts in hand. Had a great time and on the return stopped for fuel at Watson Lake. As we finished fueling a couple ...

I had always thought that a dead battery would charge off of a generator after armstrong starting, but I now believe that a battery can be too dead to take a charge. I had left my master switch on far to long. I hand propped, and was off for a three hour flight. Everything went well until I pulled t...

Re: Lightspeed Aviation Product Support
I traded my 20XL for the Zulu. I kept my thirty 3G. The Zulu is a little better sound quality than the 3G and a lot more comfortable. As far as product support, I have never had a problem. Twice I melted the battery case on my 20XL by getting it too close the the rear heater outlet on my 170. They r...

Re: AEROSHELL
I believe you are talking about the W Plus oils that shell came out with. My supplier told me that it was something that Lycoming wanted for their engines. A friend said he started using it his C145 in his 172 because his AE said he doesnt fly that much and it is a good idea for him. My friend wrote...
