Re: OT: Second Solo 31 years later
Thanks, guys. Chuck invited me and my father back the next time I am in Illinois. It will be the first time my father and I have been in a Cub since my 16th birthday as well. Sorry I missed so many of you at OSH. I spent most of my time in the Warbirds area ended up sharing a camper with a friend in...

OT: Second Solo 31 years later
On the way home from OSH last Sunday I stopped to visit the man who owns the Cub I soloed on my 16th birthday in 1979. He is partner with the original owner's son who lives on the East coast. The original owner, Darwin McLure, was my fathers boss in a corporate flight department in Quincy, IL. Darwi...

Re: Landing with brakes applied?, NTSB Report
Ha George, been there, done that... Once on a road trip when the kids were still car seat bound, we were cruising through the mid west in our mini-van when June decided to getup and move to the back to help the boys with something. She promptly unbuckled, turned to her left and grabbed the closest o...

Re: Tach hours: What would you set?
Thanks for the replies. The current tach only shows 700 or so hours so the the math is screwy now. changing it would to airframe or engine would save half the math and the change is easy to document. I like the idea of TTAF so as not to be tied to the engine that will likely change in another 600-80...

Tach hours: What would you set?
If you replaced your tach and had had the hours set to show the correct time, what would you show: TTAF , TSMOH?

Re: 170A instrument panel labels
I recently had my panel ('53 B) redone by a local lazer engraver. gave him my old one for hole location and lettering. I changed a few labels to reflect current wiring. He gave me the blank and I painted the back side gray to match the rest of the panel. He then cut the panel, the holes and reverse ...

Re: Any traffic in the area....Please Advise....
I seem to remember being taught this as a student in the late 70's. I do not remember it being a result of the Quincy IL runway collision. This story really hit home as this is my home airport where I grew up and soloed.
Useless call that I don't use anymore.

Re: What wire to replace P-Lead's?
I replaced my P-Leads last year with shielded wire and solder sleeves from Terminal Town. Here is a link: http://www.terminaltown.com/Pages/Page93.html.
Very easy and a very neat installation on both ends.

Rubber Gaskets under gear leg covers
I have read several posts here over the years referencing rubber gaskets under the gear leg covers or similar. My plane has never had these. Would someone please post a picture of their gaskets and installation details? I assume these are owner manufactured parts-is this correct? thanks,

Re: C180 Rear Seat-will it fit?
I was hoping to find out if it was interchangeable - same hole spacing, etc. A coworker is parting out a 180 and has had a 170 owner asking. Thanks again.

C180 Rear Seat-will it fit?
Will a rear seat from a 1953 C180 fit a 170A or 170B? Thanks.

Re: Slip with full flaps in a B model
I tried this exercise myself a few years ago. Not only did the nose drop as advertised, but while still holding the full slip, full forward and aft elevator had little if any effect. the stab truly seems to be blanked out. I agree, not very scary at altitude. I don't plan on trying it down low. Chee...
