Re: New to me 170B

Well, the sale all went through. My schedule didn't permit, so a good friend picked her up for me today and made it to his place in MI where it will be stored for two weeks while I finish my work rotation. Then some flying with a instructor for my insurance checkout, and some fun flying out there, t...

New to me 170B

After an earlier deal fell through, It's looking very likely that I'll be taking ownership of a 1953 B model this week. I've got a list of 337s from an FAA records search. Seems to include a lot of popular mods. I've been googling each, but I thought I'd post here just to get some info from the expe...

Re: Barron Aviation

In digging around the internet, I found a listing on Facebook that says permanently closed. If anyone knows otherwise, please post.

Thanks!

Barron Aviation

Anyone know any intel on Barron Aviation in Hannibal, MO? They have a 170 listed for training on their website. I called the office number, seems to have been disconnected. I called the cell number they list for text/call, mailbox hasn't been set up. Texted it, no answer. Anyone know if they're stil...

Re: Found mine...hopefully...

I can highly recommend a shop and IA in Kalispell MT. My 170B was maintained and inspected by Reed Lamb at Kalispell Airport. Reed de-rigged, packed and shipped my 170B, and took so much care and created such good assembly instructions. If you can get Reed to do a annual / pre-buy you will be in ve...

Re: Found mine...hopefully...

I don’t necessarily disagree. But it is what it is, and it’s a concern in this transaction. Again, I highly doubt there’s nefarious intent, just an old soul mentality and concern. Since the last time I checked reasonable 170s aren’t growing on trees, I’d like to try and keep the deal together. What ...

Re: Found mine...hopefully...

Thank you. That is taken care of. Where the hiccup is if the inspection doesn’t go well, and we’re not going to execute the sale, the airplane is now 300 miles from home. I would have no problem covering expenses and returning the airplane, the real potential issue is if an airworthiness issue was f...

Re: Found mine...hopefully...

Hey all, back looking for some ideas. The logistics on the pre-purchase inspection have been difficult given the weather and the Coronavirus impact, and well a few other things. I had a shop that came highly recommended, but was approximately 300nm away from the airplane's home. The sellers had a pe...

Re: Found mine...hopefully...

Hope all is well with the pre-buy.. You're welcome to fly with me for some transitional training if you want. I'm based at KCOE and live in Liberty Lake.. Thank you! The pre-buy is delayed due to weather and some logistics to be worked out. Target is next week. I live in east Spokane Valley, betwee...

Re: Found mine...hopefully...

The shop doing the prebuy came well recommended from folks independent of the transaction. I’m coordinating with the shop to open the airplane up and look at all the big ticket items. Assuming all goes well and we close on the sale, the shop is going to hold on to the airplane and finish off an annu...

Re: Found mine...hopefully...

Thanks again for the info. My Transponder/ADS-B solution is very much a clean slate, with tons of available options. And that's probably why I hesitate to do anything right away, giving me time to evaluate all the options. I do have a Garmin Hiking GPS/PLB that I've used for some time (It was fun se...

Re: Found mine...hopefully...

Thanks for the info guys. As for my mission, it will be leisure flying around Eastern Washington and North Idaho, with the occasional trips venturing a little further. I fly professionally for a living, I've got no interest in single engine IFR and very limited interest in single engine at night, es...

Found mine...hopefully...

Well, I finally got my hands on an airplane, or at least have an agreement and heading to a pre-purchase inspection next week. I've got a shop doing the prebuy that came very well recommended. The airplane is a 55 that's pretty much stock original. Assuming the prebuy all goes well, what are some mo...
