Who were your favorite passengers?

After 30 years of GA flying, I had two of my best flights ever on Saturday. Yeah, my wife Amy has flown with me a couple of times and we had fun, but this wasn't the same. Flying to Oshkosh last year was a blast, especially with friends on my wing, but doesn't compare to Saturday. So, let me set thi...

Re: Zeftronics Regulator Approval (sp)

That’s my plan George; to give them a call sometime this week. I was hoping somebody may have traveled this path already. I’ll pass along what I hear.

Has anybody had any luck, or trouble, getting approval for the Zeftronics G1200N 20A regulator since the 170 series is not on the aircraft eligibility list?

It turns out I’ve got a 20A generator (p/n 1101890) with a 12A regulator (p/n 1118383)... bummer.

Re: Analog Ammeter

While I’m waiting for a cheapo gauge to come from Amazon, I decided to pull my ammeter and check it out. I must have spent an hour cleaning 25 years of gunk, if not more, off of the terminals, case and mounting brackets. Hooked it up to a few 12v halogen bulbs, and whatdya know, matched up perfectly...

Analog Ammeter

My ammeter has recently been intermittent, and now I think it has failed (at least it appears that way). Do you have any good suggestions on troubleshooting and testing the ammeter in/out of the aircraft? I can't recall the last time I saw a large charging draw after startup, and only recently have ...

Re: Cleveland 40-97A Wheel Assy

Spoke with Cleveland tech services, they are recommending replacement of the felt seals with the molded grease seals.

Cleveland 40-97A Wheel Assy

Since we're talking a lot about wheels lately... What are the correct grease seal part numbers for the 40-97A 6.00 x 6 wheel? Aircraft Spruce has one link that references the felt seals (154-0300 & 154-1300), and in another link shows the molded seals (154-12000 & 154-12400). Aviall shows th...

Thank you for the congratulations, Kyle! There are a lot of beautiful 170s out there, and I am humbled to receive that award.

Re: ForeFlight Scout

Kyle, I think you're right. Mode C aircraft in radar contact are retransmitted and should show up using the Stratus or Scout. The "puck" is an envelope +/-3500 ft and within 30 nm of a dual band ADS-B OUT aircraft. Since dual band receive traffic via air-to-air, ground transmitters retrans...

Re: ForeFlight Scout

I bought a Scout at the ForeFlight booth in Oshkosh kind of on a whim. Was definitely an impulse buy, but I didn't find anything else that I really needed at the show, so I bought it. That said, I'm happy with it. It was definitely helpful to have realtime METARS and radar departing OSH with MVFR ce...

Re: BAS shoulder harness recommendations

I have the utility harness with Velcro attachment points in the headliner. They invariably detach from the headliner every time! The amount of Velcro provided is not enough surface area for the weight of the harness blades. Mine just end up dangling behind the front seats when not in use.

I wish I was related, Arash! Not a day goes by without being asked! Not since 1991, anyway. Stormin' Norman may be one of our last greatest Generals. Amazing history with his father, too.

My family is all very proud to share his name.

Re: Cessna Airframe Log

Thanks, guys. That log is definitely not from '51. The originals were lost or destroyed long ago. All I have is from '96 on. I need a new log and was hoping to keep consistency.
