Re: Cessna 170 software for flight simulator
I have a good X-Plane 170B that I believe was modeled after a member's plane. It is not compatible with MS Flight Simulator though, you must have X-Plane.

Re: Do you have our winter?
It's supposed to be an El Nino year, so we have the warmer Pacific currents in our backyard this year instead of Japan. I'm not sure how that affects the onset of winter, but I think it will bring more "pineapple express"-like storms to the NW US than normal. I have no use for moderate tem...

Re: Tailwheel main spring
And replace it approx. every 500 hours/cycles For some reason, I thought I read this interval value in the Owner's Manual, and have had that 500 hr number in the back of my mind since buying the plane. A few months back when I actually replaced my main leaf (preventative) I decided to thumb through...

Re: Radio replacement suggestions
I've sold a few of the MGL V10's, and they are nice little units. Very light, with a built-in intercom even. but, $895 also takes you a long way toward a more conventional tray radio too. My King KY97A has been great, and I think they can be found used for not a whole lot more than a new MGL. The Ki...

Re: McCauley 7651 vs. 7653
1seventy2---Why don't you just go out and measure your ground clearance and apply the difference? 8lu31dr, My question was not whether reducing prop clearance by 2" would present a problem, it was whether it was legal or not. I do not see the 1A175 on the TCDS, so I assume it's an STC. I guess...

Can the 8043 be run legally with standard 170 gear on 8.00x6? Just curious, as I'd love to find one.Abe wrote:But you know that even with the "43" on my stock O300, I'm still cruising at 100-110 mph ground speed at 2450 RPM's

Re: Mag Compass Spinning
I believe the reason most fans of the vertical-card compasses like it is because they are ADD and cannot remember which way to turn to a heading. The horizontal-card compass has several features which can be very useful if one learns to utilize them, such as the pronounced lead/lag (which des...

This is a solution that I like:

i know it's sort of modern and unoriginal, but I've never liked whiskey-style compasses.

Neat planes. We built a Drifter earlier this year, which is the Aircam's little brother.

Re: Consider a 170 /need your opinion
Bruce, how dare you argue with Cessna! Sure, there is much subtext about true value of these minor differences between models but regardless, those are the distinctions as the factory rolled them out the door, for better or for worse. It's good though to suffix them with explanations. The "D&qu...

Bruce, here are a few more pics taken by a fellow who also attended. As I posted on another website, what the east lacks in mountains it apparently makes up for in beautiful grass airports. http://www.backcountrypilot.org/gallery/albums/userpics/10926/G2009__003.jpg http://www.backcountrypilot.org/g...
