Re: Sickly Cylinder
Frank, do you have a EGT on that cylinder? Cylinder head temp has no real bearing on wether or not you cook the exhaust valve, it just tells you if you are cooking the cylinder. Your EGT will tell you if you are cooking the exhaust valve. I had a client that cooked the exhaust valve in about 200hrs ...

Re: IO-360 project
Well I took delivery of my Continental IO-360-C today. 210hp, I can't wait. It is off of the rear of a C-337. The engine had 200 SMOH when the starter went out. The pilot elected to take off single engine and crashed into a river. 8O The aircraft was recovered and the engine was disassymbled and cl...

Re: Re:
It is a rare private pilot that flies his plane enough to get the engine to the recomended TBO before the elements take there toll on the engine enough to cause it to need overhauled first. Especially in high corrosion environments. On another note. I took my skis off and put my wheels on yesterday...

The lens on those rotates so that it will film level with the camera mounted in any position.

Re: McCauley breaks?
The McCauley wheels and double puck brakes also came on 180's. It is rare to find one that still has them on it though, most have been converted to double puck Clevelands. That is why for a long time they were really easy to come by and cheap. The wheels had a high failure rate. So ironicly "Br...

Re: Federal Skii Prices
I have run the Aero 3000's with the T3000 tail ski on my 170B for about 10 years now and love them. They have a little bit more square inches of foot print than the Landis 2500 but as you can see in the pictures they do it by being shorter and wider. Because they are shorter and slightly concaved th...

Re: Federal Skii Prices
If you want to compare prices and specs with new Aero skis you can look on www.aeroski.net There is a full price list on there as well as brochures and ski specs. Good luck.

Re: Headliner wrinkles, HELP
If you use a 2"-3" wide putty knife (make sure it doesn't have sharp edges), carefully insert it up into the tack strip. Gently push in and lift the vinyl off of the tack strip tangs and pull the vinyl and putty knife out of the tack strip together. If you do it right it will take very lit...

Re: Headliner wrinkles, HELP
Typically it is all about how you install it. You strategically stretch it in what ever direction is needed during installation to remove all the wrinkles. You may just have to undo it in a few spots and stretch it more. It takes a bit to get the hang of it but stick with it and you will get it. I d...

Re: dual puck Clevelands
Keep in mind the double puck brakes only apply as much brake as you tell them to. I have ran 6.00x6, 8.50x6, 8.50x10, and 31" Bushwheels all with no problem with double puck brakes. Back in the day when field approvals were relatively easy to get many FSDO's required double puck brakes if you w...

Re: Engine mounts for Avcon and Del-Air O-360
Aircraft Spruce carries them for $192.95. Also, I did a general search online for that p/n and found lots of hits with many places that sell them. It seems that is a very common mount used on many Lycoming installations. One of the hits pulled up a forum for the Commander 114 that uses that mount an...

Re: 180hp conversion for the 170A
Ghostflyer- I would encourage you to consider installing the seaplane lip on your cowling that is part of the factory float kit. This lips purpose is to provide better cooling. It is common with other aircraft that have been converted to larger engines to require that lip to be extended as part of t...

Re: extended baggage?
Each one I have installed has fit exactly as you discribe. I doubt my method to make it fit is Selkirk approved but I sanded a little on the outside corners where they are hitting the rivits, this allowed it to sit down in the bulkhead a little better. Then I used large area washers as spacers betwe...

DelAir is not the only game in town anymore. Soots Aviation out of Fairbanks offers the Lycoming 0-360 180hp, I0-360 200hp, and the I0-390 210hp conversions. I don't know much about his conversions but the ones I have seen are real clean installations.

Re: HORSEPOWER UPGRADE
Rumor has it that Tom at XP mods retained all his STC's at the auction and is now operating under TD Aerospace. He is in the process of getting FAA approval to start producing his products and conversions again. I heard this second hand so take it for what it is. The guy I talked to had talked to To...
