The flange is held in place with the six screws that hold the splash shield in place. There is also a seal between the base and the inside of the tank. The stakes...

Mine are staked in which will require blending otherwise the threads will pick up material upon neck removal. Prc sealant should seal the new necks threads.

Instrument panel change

I have installed a Avion panel under the impression that it was STC'd for a 170. In fact it is not and must be installed via 337. Unfortunately that doesn't work in Canada and a one off will be required. It may be cheaper and quicker to install H.D's kit which is STC'd. Does Harry's STC come as a ki...

I'm almost finished the 0-320 conversion and yeah I'm black and blue. I'm hoping for increased reliability and fuel savings which is basically a penny wise, dollar not so wise. approach.

Give your heads a shake , whom of use out there doesn't have an intake scoop free from cracks? Its a mere 2400 ,Nose bowls ditto, I'm sure if we ordered in bulk they would give us 10% off. Just wish Univair or the like would produce C170 parts in volume .

For what its worth , I've replaced that channel for the same reason but I had the tail feathers off . Problem area as that bolt item (2) was curved like my hockey stick. The prvious owner had flown the aircraft for years (20?) with that tab missing and compensated by adding a spacer plus tightening ...

I thought that the aviation oils were non-detergent type oils. On opening up a case there's a film of grey goo everywhere.

gas tank fill neck retaining ring

I looked at this briefly, how does the retaining ring come out? The only spot is by the fuel gauge at the side, is there enough room to squeeze it out there?

Is there any advantage other than climb rate ? If on floats great idea strap on as much power as you can.I wonder in cruise how much the elevator is deflected and how much drag is produced by that deflection.

I too did the run around with Al and the boys , all I wanted was info and paperwork of which I was willing to pay for. I received little in retur...
